Recommend me some filmz?
but honestly; no.
it's a sixties mafia film, it's brilliant and it's, like, 3 hours long
Gumnaan, is a cult classic with an amazing rafi soundtrack
Sure there are loads of interesting little things to discover in from the past 50 years from all over the world.
But making out like you enjoy these shockingly dated, shockingly poor-quality, shockingly awful films is really scraping the barrel of coolness.
for goodness sake watch that, or atleast read the synopsis on Wiki.
ooo Mother India too.
I can tolerate Lagaan just about, and that's largely because I love cricket. Generally though it's mostly melodramatic twaddle.
how many bollywood films these "bollywood is rubbish" people have actually watched? Like properly?
Some of the music is great. And there was this funny guy from the fifties...
You only need to watch about 20 seconds to know everything there is to know about them. Pull your head out of your arse.
this is the one aspect of another culture that you are expected to mock, due to it's spectacularly bad ways.
^ All you need to know about Bollywood.
It's the only one worth watching. Seriously.
i am premier googling correspondent
the new stuff seems to be a bit cheesy, but is quite fascinating because it's about how SOME of india sees itself now (weird massive obsession with gay themes, currently). they do crazy remakes of old films such as the apartment (which was re-set in a mumbai call centre) and had a rock band instead of the traditional girl/boy singing parts
i really like the old films, they are a lot of fun - amitabh bachchan films, things like mother india (really sad)
I forget what it is called though.
That MUST be brilliant.
It's almost 4 hours long!
You're all invited.
and fit white girls on trampolines, because i'm in that music video
