Heart-warming and lovely.
there was this kid that i went to high school with who used to get picked on all the time due to his glasses and cosby-like sweaters. by the time he graduated, he was a guitar virtuoso playing in bands with many female followers (yet he's still a total sweetheart). definitely heartwarming.
Has this ever happened?
but then, i had girlfriends in highschool that might rule me out
are generally people that are so boring even to themselves, that they feel that they have to spend all of their time with other people. Then when uni ends, and they realise that all of their friendships were hollow, and that the nights they promoted/put on were pretentious bollocks, they receed back into themselves, get fat, and marry a girl called Helen.
leave the house, meet new people, enjoy their teens, then settle down later.
Better to be a social dynamo at least once in your life than a boring fuckwit all of your life, no?
actually strikes me as more interesting than a lot of the people that I previously referred to.
I don't mean to say that being quiet and geeky means you're not enjoying life, that's not what I implied. I'm fairly quiet in some circumstances, but I genuinely love the time i'm having.
I more meant to generalise in a sense so that people could recognise 'that kid' at school who was always a bit of a loner, never really said anything, and always kept his head down.
are doing quite well for themselves now.
I'm just glad to see this kid who really did have alot of problems and take alot of shit from the cunts I went to school with having the time of his life, and the idiots who dealt it spending all their lives updating their facebook statuses as 'i bord lol'.
although pekar is spot on..in the scene after this..bit harsh though :D
He means that actually, when you go to univeristy, it's often not the boorish idiots that are the cool kids, but actually the ones that used to exist in their own little creative world.
Beyond university it's even more so. It's anecdotal, and within my frame of reference, but all of the coolest people that I've met, and those that are doing something interesting and creative with their lives, were basically the geeks in their class.
has this become a serious discussion?
m-dizzle and moousee seem to be taking it seriously ^ up there.
The word dynamo just reminds me of dynamo from running man
white+middle class+"troubled"+"lonely at school"+ "geeky" =skiny jeans, fringe, arty, wiht Japanese gf at uni.
notwhiteandmiddleclass+troubled+lonely at school+"geeky"=unemployed/juvinile detention/prison
That's what I've noticed anyway
