isnt it interesting that its always peoples knees that conk out but no the ankles? well not rly but im bored :S
hows it going katti?
its going pretty good! I need a shower now tho!!
hows you? been at work?
im good jah.
is this going to be a regular occurrence then?
the running you mean?? oh yes!
at the moment I'm falling out of love, and feel an intense loathing. But that's because I haven't been out for over a week, as soon as I get out I'll love it again.
yeah hope you get it back!
I'm into my routine again so it just feels great!
except I can't run as far as I used to be able to. I'm working up to it though!
today I ran longer than last time and man, it feels just amazing:D
keep it up you!
i'm gonna tackle the REALLY BIG HILL A LITTLE BIT FURTHER ON starting from next week. I got back today with sweat actually dripping off my nose. sexxxy
thats the way to go! haha
im more of a pedalling man myself
i might still like treadmilling though
Used to love it more. Used to be really quite good at it. Now I'm more of a plodder than a runner.
At the moment, no, not a chance.
absolutely hate it. and i run often. hate it.
the air rushing through your hair, pretending your pre-historic and running away from a sabre tooth tiger, the countryside, the road, listening to the fall, belle and sebastian or hiphop, being on a MASSIVE high when you stop. it makes me feel really primal, which is about as close to manly as I ever get, and it makes you dead skinny! yay!
i LOVE running
I find that I think in a very clear, focused manner for some reason when I'm running. And that my breathing pattern turns into strange musical sequences, like when Bjork has those strange flights of fantasy in Dancer In The Dark when she's working in the factory etc., that build up and build up until my breathing pattern alters for some reason. Then it starts over again. Plus it feels great when you stop, and it feels amazing to get better and better at running any given route. Running in the rain feels brilliant.
yeah the best thing is to see how you improve!! such a nice feeling
and running up massive hills. running up massive hills.
and feeling smug when you then ahve to run for a bus and everyone is out of breath for 10 minutes and coughing up black stuff and you feel fine :D
RUNNING RUNNING RUNNING
ur reading my mind
but the overwhelming love and positivity from Katti towards running is really making me want to run!
Used to love it, got older, fatter, now its a chore :(
I like the film Run Lola Run
It should only be watched in German - it's not like there's much dialog to understand!
well work urself up slowly and then in a few weeks you will love it again!
i do go running though, i just don't enjoy it that much. still, it's free, it's getting me fitter, and needs must when the devil drives
and big bum and boobs, cycling is ok though i suppose.
but then my knees started to really hurt, so I've stopped.
and spend some cash on decent running shoes. Unless you're high mileage they'll last a couple of years no problems and well worth the cash.
it helps SO much
i've just got bad knees generally, dislocated one once and it's never properly been the same since. I just need to do more general knee-strengthening stuff before getting back into the running, but I hate doing that sort of excersise so it's not really happening yet...
it's slightly different. when you run you 1. don't wear a fleece. 2. go somewhere. 3. go significantly faster than walking pace. 4. get out of breathe!
I am going to carry a long stick to jam in their spokes.
I'm a grumpy young bastard.
I hate it. Passionately.
I go down to the tall ship, along the river, over past the BBC, up Govan Road and Paisley Road, through Tradeston, over the new footbridge, back along the front on the other side (past Renfrew ferry etc), up Finnieston Street, along Argyle Street and back home.
Perhaps i'll start seeing you out running around. I try not to be seen, which is another added bonus of the riverside :)
These days I just slob.
went running in the rain around the park yesterday. Its joyous. I find that a lot less people are overtaking me from when i first started and I'm overtaking a lot more people, very satisfying.
Gets you really fit, the only downside is i now get angry if I don't do it. It has helped my football playing significantly as well. I can get to balls quicker than other people and actually dribble round people!
I would highly recommend it if you suffer from depression, its endorphin-tastic! It really gives you time to think and helps sort you prioritise(sp?) stuff very quickly in your mind.
Nothing beats the rush you get after about twenty minutes and you feel like you are floating and want to run forever and staying still seems to boring and pointless.
It's also helped me lose weight.
Katti - I recommend you read this:
what's that book about??
and his philosophical views on running.
He's run 10k every day for about 40 years or something similar.
I will look for it thanks!
I'm not sure I would have enjoyed it quite as much if I hadn't already read a bunch of his books, but definitely worth a shot...
I sort of want to do the ultramarathon thing he does.
I've just been out running along the beach in the sun, woo yeah!
The downside to running on the beach is that dogs run after you and try to bite your ankles
he replied first to this thread. I think he's slightly nuts but that's only because my tummy smashes me in the face every time I try. He ought to get his hair cut though, the aerodynamic benefits would mean him hitting his 3 hour marathon target. Would Jenson Button be leading the F1 world championship looking like Vanessa Mae? No.
poor thing lol
can only do it in 30 second bursts before my lungs feel like theyre gonna explode, during those 30 seconds I can out run anyone though(found this out at school, surprising as im quite fat)but not on grass for some reason just hard surfaces
Swimming is the titz. I rediscovered it after a decade long hiatus.
I'm loving running but everyone I know who runs and is over 40 has absolutely bollocksed their knees... I'M AFRAID
