Seems to be a bit random.
The complete list is as follows:
As to what gets stickied well, yes, it IS random. There's not much need but in the case of the football thread it was useful in keeping all the football discussion in one place. I note that JoeDiddly might have been right about the Cricket thread sticky situation for a similar reason as yesterday we seemed to get a few cricket threads.
Beyond that, I'm not sure. I don't think the BNP thread was helped by stickying it: it just leads to a reverse psychology effect even more than such stuff will on a site full of intelligent cynics like this. As such I've unstickyfied it.
In general you'd only expect announcements or important site-based charity drives, etc. to be set as sticky, I would think, with the caveat that any discussion that will benefit from a lack of fragmentation over numerous threads should also have a sticky single thread.
I've changed my mind about the cricket one - for a two week tournament a sticky would be useful. It's a pain finding it. I am aware that I could bookmark it but I refuse.
He maybe did what?
you are going to get a taste of your own dick medicine.
...too much. It's been posted in fairly frequently enough so that it's normally on the first page, and then there's always the "Your Posts" which it SHOULD show up in...I wouldn't have bothered if I knew people were going to go OMGGZA STICKYT WTF MENTAL RIDUCKLUS!!!one
I didn't realise your thread was only the fantasy cricket one. There seemed to be three cricket threads yesterday, one with an annoyingly ambiguous title, which is really what the idea of making a sticky football thread was all about. It's one thing to step through four or five obviously football threads as a non-fan but then there are titles which mean nothing if you're not a fan of said sport so that makes it even more irritating.
