Shite bags. I get back to the UK on Wed morning. Taxi for me I reckon.
oh well, two hours to work, two hours back, YAY
Im gonna have to used buses
I hate buses
Im not going to be a happy individual
Just not when every person who normally uses the tube is trying to get on one...
What can I do?
I feel like a geek
Plus stupid sticky floors
+ loads of other things
Talking book/suck in the scenery(crazy bastards in the street) you miss when underground/ have a wee power nap if you get a seat.
Almost endless fun to be had on a bus
Until the end of the week yeah
until the end of the week also. where you going at the end of the week? where you going tomorrow? i can't stand north west london, i didn't realise i hated it so much. seeing the jubilee line on the tube map makes me feel queasy.
Yeah man, its awful
Im going to stay with my friends who have got a room free, until I get a place. I was going to meet someone tommorow, then maybe wander down to buffallo bar.
where you off to at the end of the week?
whereabouts are your mates? if you know of any rooms or anything in september give me a shout...though i'd understand if you didn't wanna, ya know
i'm going to uhhhhmerica. for three months. want anything?
You should buy me a jumper. Its the least you can do.
You moving out from your place? Is it up for rent? You were paying a decent amount were'nt you?
some pure americana goodness.
yeah man i left it the other week. 500 a month all in. needs three tenants, if you know two other people? it's a real good place, you could do worse...wanna arrange a viewing?
bus from NE-> Central SW. Which goes right down Oxford St. I am going to be one late motherfucker.
good luck son...take a sleeping bag with ya
I;m lucky in that it's only a 45 minute walk. I'm damned if I'm going to get on a sardine tin bus.
I suspect a lot of my work colleagues just won't come in anyway. It's all so ludicrous, the quarrel is between TFL and Tube workers so what the fuck does pissing off commuters have to do with it. Logic failure ahoy!
The tube is over-rammed and doesn't run smooth enough as it is, so how is paying staff below inflation rates and sacking loads more of them going to help?
they were offered a 2% pay deal fixed til 2013, they want it fixed til 2011. of course, they're going to want a bit more in 2012, and are probably going to be in a good position to get it cougholympicscough
and so I take a largely neutral point of view (it's an argument, likemost arguments both sides are to blame), I've just never understood how making getting to and from work for people a pain in the arse for two whole days helps anyone.
refuses to enter into arbitration, strike action is the final (and only) course of action that the union can take.
I'd take issue with Verbal's simplification of their wage demands too. It works out at 5% over five years, something which most of the newspapers seem to conveniently forget to mention.
There's been a fair few strikes over the years after all
in comparison to the previous decade.
There are a number of reasons for that, not least the fact that the unions didn't want to rock the boat too much when Ken Livingstone was mayor.
It has to be said though, that since TfL was formed in 2000 (and LU was brought under its control in 2003), the underground's management has not broken pre-existing pay agreements with the unions. It never seemed to get mentioned in the press, but the reason that there used to be strikes every summer was because LU kept on reneging on annual pay deals that had been agreed through arbitration.
