I like them a lot. I might buy the EP...
He used to have a series on late night about 15 years ago when he went on tour. It was great and I've seen nothing since.
Every time someone mentions gammon in my presence it triggers "eggs and gammon, poor Rhiannon".
but no-one has any stock! http://www.find-dvd.co.uk/dvd/John-Shuttleworth-500-Bus-Stops/1077359.htm
Have you seen his film about the North?
I wonder if you can buy it anywhere?
As for this thing about the North, nope that escaped me completely. Pray tell?
Also- the out takes are brilliant: "Trouser leg differential Ken..."
mockumentary type thing with Martin Parr based on the premise that the further North you go the nicer people are.
the nicer people are. It was made with Martin Parr and is called It's Nice Up North. He did a little talk at the Tyneside when I saw it up there. Great stuff. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Its-Nice-Up-North-DVD/dp/B000FS9OU4
The ads are wonderful. They're a bit niche though, aren't they? I can imagine 98% of the audience thinking, "WTF?"
Austin Ambassador Y-reg, Y-reg; Don't keep asking me why Reg; 'cos that's just the reg it is.
you've got straaaaange-ways.
Wasn't Frank Sidebottom annoyed that Mrs Merton and John Shuttleworth took his niche? Poor Frank.
And yes, he was a little: http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2006/may/31/art.popandrock
If they're anything as good as 'Two Margarines' or 'Can't Go Back To Savoury' I'll be happy.
Also: he's from the same little bit of Sheffield where I used to live (and yes, I'm aware that he's a fictional character)
It was genuinely brilliant.
My jaw nearly dropped off seeing John on the chest freezer during prime time telly ads!
Graham Fellowes is extraordinary, i'm a big fan of John!
I do a good Ken/John impression too.
'Impress an impresario, and i'll make you a star y'know...'
I'm listening to them all. For the 10th time today.
how the first advert in this fairly big push assumes the viewer is long aware of who John is and of the dynamic with Ken and Mary. Do they really intend him to become a bigger name at this stage?
on YouTube earlier and someone has put in the comments that he's like "a scouse manc, lol"
What do they even mean? Do you think they're the only Northern towns they know and realising his accent is neither of these then presume he must be some weird hybrid...
John Shuttleworth's hints and tips...
small world, eh? (...or something)
