I realise that most people here are 18year-olds in flannel shirts, horn-rimmed spectacles and sporting and inflated sense of self-worth (plus a few tentative 'self-harming' scars), but perhaps there's someone out there who has been in this position... ?

My job is rubbish, my girlfriend's moving farther away and I'm sick of doing long-distance, and I didn't get onto the PhD course that I applied for (blessing in disguise, I think). Now I'm considering applying to go back to university. Will I cope with essays, part-time work, actual real-life interaction with teenagers?

I am 28.
