honestly, some people
I mean obviously I can recollect women I've met at various points in my life I both simultaneously dislike and fancy to the point where aggressive mutual lust/hate sex in appealing option but none of 'em have been DiSers.
shit goes down like this:
"Huh? Oh, hey Beef. I lost my copy of Braveheart, so I'm seein' if Steve's Party does anything for me."
"Man ain't you worried what people would say if they ran in here and saw."
"You know me, dude. I'm straighter than John Wayne voting for Ronald Reagan on a horse. Somebody says I'm gay, I'll just sit here bein' straight, and they'll be wrong."
Feels like Onstad's got his groove back after a few aborted plots that went nowhere.
he was spreading himself thin there for a bit. Still, though, I think my favourite strips are the ones that aren't really part of a story; just Ray doing his things, or Beef being depressed. So I still love it when he's just going through the motions.
Although, being Welsh, the current stuff does kind of make me feel a bit giddy with glee. WHO SHALL PROVE THAT A WELSHMAN FEARS NOT THE UNKNOWN
"IF I AM A PILGRIM TO GOMORRAH THEN I AM A PILGRIM TO GOMORRAH, BUT JUDGE ME NOT 'TIL YE HAVE ALSO SURRENDERED THE BLADE OF ECSTASY WHICH IS THE NACHO CHIP!"
It's been great. I agree that Achewood is most consistently great when it's those little one-offs (like Philippe's recent "hot tranny mess" one which was amazing), but when it gets a good story arc it's untouchable. Just look at the Great Indoor Fight, or the Volvo Of Despair.
"Fuck man! I barfed! I barfed because you looked in my eyes!"
so I googled the last line and found out what it was.

You'll get a full appreciation of the little world that Onstad's created. It's just such a shame that the first year or so is so rubbish - it's only really from Teodor's Party onwards that it becomes the genius that it is today. I never knew comic strips could be so profound.
and i'm a lover not a fighter.
