Doing a HND as a way of getting into university. Has anyone here done this?

GalacticStar3ruption [Edit] [Delete] 13:04, 8 May '09

I pretty much failed all my A Levels apart from an E grade in Sociology (lol) and a D grade AS Level in Business Studies (lol). According to an online UCAs points calculator this leaves me with 70 points (and maybe more because of "key skills", but I don't remember what I got in that).

A few questions:

Why wasn't I made aware of this before? It took a conversation in the pub with someone to realise you could apply for University with such pitiful qualifications. Maybe my school just sucked at this kind of thing.

Has anyone had any experience of this and if so how did you find it?

Is it generally a problem applying this late? I realise that some courses might be full, but hopefully this won't be too much of a problem.

I don't even know what I want to do yet, but I do know...

-I'm capable of and need further qualifications.
-I regret not trying harder in my A levels and going to university.
-I'm desperate to get out of Northamptonshire and start my own life somewhere.

Thoughts?
