I had an operation yesterday. Beforehand I was asked to change into:
A surgical gown - makes perfect sense.
A pair of surgical slippers - makes sense to make sure walking to the trolley I didn't get any dirt etc. on my feet.
And a pair of thigh-length surgical stockings - I'm a bit baffled on this one.
I enjoyed wearing them though.
Well... you've got to look your best, innit?

they recommend wearing tight, long socks or stockings to prevent DVT.
But by then I'd lost the surgical gown - I'd have needed both for full effect.
I've used surgical gowns before. Hospitals let you take them if you ask nicely and have a charming enough smile.
