What a surprise, from Chelsea fans.. :|
to the point of being anti-footballer, it's not that at all. if they're actually credible death threats (how do you define a credible death threat), then yeah, book--->chelsea fc interface please, yay for classroom totalitarianism. if it's all a fuss about nothing, it's a fuss about nothing.
and Chelsea FC have to be punished? That's even stupider than your stance on referees generally
"if it's all a fuss about nothing, it's a fuss about nothing."
incidentally, just cause you're being a hilariously sulky twat today, i hope chelsea get kicked out of europe FOREVER
jesus christ it's like dealing with chimps with keyboards here sometimes
The first part of it was retarded, so I said so. No need for you to get abusive. Well, other than the fact that you're a cunt.
which you were. undeniably.
i notice you've not tried to argue your case further, which suggests to me you've realised you were being a rash pillock and totally in the wrong. which is good, because i'm justifiably smug.
IYou're just being a bellend. Obviously I'm not in the best of moods today but if you look through the football thread, I think it would pretty obvious that whilst I've disagreed with people, it's all been in good humour and at no point have I been a 'sulky twat' to anyone.
The idea that an entire organisation should be punished for the actions of one loosely-associated person is stupid. I said so. You got abusive. I abused you back.
should probably just give up, yeah? good
You can't blame a guy for only reading half of anything you post
if it's all a bit daft, let it lie, or words to that effect. but if you really had to...
I think you're a decent bloke and I often don't understand why you get so much stick. But if you think I picked an argument, I suggest you think back to where you might have seen these sentences before.
"incidentally, just cause you're being a hilariously sulky twat today, i hope chelsea get kicked out of europe FOREVER
jesus christ it's like dealing with chimps with keyboards here sometimes"
i would've thought the fact i stuck FOREVER in caps like that might've implied that i wasn't being completely serious, ho-hum, must moderate tone
seriously though, i did say credible death threats. and we all know there's a difference between the monobrows reaching for the green biro and their "guide to bad spelling" and a credible death threat.
didn't introduce an unnecessary abusive element to our frank exchange of ideas, I can't help you.
i believe football would be better if all the referees were scared off and there were no rules. i can't see how anyone would disagree, tbh
90% of the Chelsea fans I know are knobs.
are corporate suits or Headhunters please.
Although I quite like the idea of a reformed head hunter who's now part of the prawn sandwich brigade
Every role should go to a Chelsea season ticket holder
This will be proper bollocks. Some dickhead will have got hold of his phone number, given him a ring and in the following tirade of abuse yelled "I'M GONNA KILL YOU" in a completely hollow sense. Or they'll have been a letter with some scrawled empty threats delivered to his hotel. I'd be very surprised if there was more to it than that.
just saw it on the guardian website and thought i'd stick it up because usually nobody replies to my threads :)
I like the idea that a helicopter circled round him and then dropped a rope ladder
REFEREES ARE WEAK AND SCUM!
the shoes of the ref though, he's obviously aware of the fact that he has invoked the ire of all Chelsea fans. He's well aware that the players are none too keen on him either.
Now he's getting death threats. Regardless of the fact that they are almost certainly from some mindless moron who can barely write his/her own name, it must be pretty intimidating. It's easy to brush off "...some scrawled empty threats delivered to his hotel" but I wouldn't want to be on the end of it.
I also think that the reaction of the players/pundits fuels this sort of thing. If Drogba/Ballack/Souness/the good (not evil) Redknapp hadn't reacted like the ref had shit on a Chelsea flag in the centre circle, then you might not have incidents such as these
I understand that the threats have to be taken seriously by those involved. I was merely trying to pre-empt a whole load of bollocks CHELSEA R SCUM posts
Millwall/Carlisle/Southend/Southampton. 1% of the reason I gave up my Saints season ticket was I was surrounded by absolute twats.
The guy that stood up to give Jens Lehmann shit about World Wars stands out for me, I'm sure Jens had a tear in his eye as his team thoroughly steamrollered ours...
The long and short of it is that football fans, of which I am one, really can be twats
seriously probably nothing, and regardless Chelsea could never be punished for it.
stupid thing to do though.
hit me up someone...

The Norwegian referee Tom Henning Ovrebo was understood to have been smuggled out of the country by police today after receiving a number of death threats. Ovrebo has become the target of a hate campaign after failing to award Chelsea a series of penalty appeals during their Champions League semi-final defeat against Barcelona at Stamford Bridge last night. After the game, Ovrebo was barracked by the Chelsea players, including Didier Drogba and Michael Ballack, and he was escorted to the tunnel by Chelsea stewards.
Police were said to be so concerned about his safety that they changed his hotel before organising his secret exit from Britain. Police in Ovrebo's home city of Oslo said they were investigating threats made on the internet. An Oslo police spokesman said: "We are watching closely what is being posted on the internet. Anything we believe would threaten his personal safety will be taken seriously."
Former international referee Graham Poll said today: "This morning he's being smuggled out of our country under police escort – this is a referee of a football match. That is a disgrace. When he booked into a hotel they had to change the hotel he was staying at because of the fear that maybe fans would find him."
Uefa will wait for reports from the referee and match delegate before deciding whether to charge any of the Chelsea players. A Uefa spokesman said: "We will see the report from the referee and match delegate before deciding whether to take any action or not ... we never comment on the performance of the referee."
After Chelsea's fourth appeal for a penalty was turned down, Ballack chased Ovrebo for 40 yards, shouting in his face and at one point appearing to touch him on the shoulder before being booked. Drogba, who had been substituted in the second half, came out from the tunnel after the final whistle to angrily confront the ref as he left the field.
oh, the internet.
*shakes head sadly*
do they just browse message boards until they find a death threat somewhere?
one keyboard warrior who probably wasn't even at the game makes a threat on a football forum (a place well known for reasoned discussion)
someone might read this and smuggle them out of the country?
they might smuggle them TO THE MOON!
death to bono
