Fifteen years ago today.
that makes thirty years
I remember that day clearly. Sad.
My mother can flick v signs to five cars at the same time while crossing three lanes of traffic at 50mph and not hitting a thing. And she once went straight over the middle of the roundabout at the bottom of Cadley Hill Road at top speed whilst singing Castles In The Sky by Ian van Dahl.
THAT'S driving. I'd like to have seen seen Senna do that.
But in a formula one car at close to 200mph.
The 50 minute one from 14 years ago is pretty good, that's "the career and life of Senna", watched that this morning.
I feel bad forgetting the name of they guy that died during qualifying the day before...actually everyone forgot straight away
which no longer exists as it went into liquidation 1995. Foundd by Max Mosley.
Grand Prix, the Teenage Fanclub album.
Was reading up about it, Max Moseley apparently went to Ratzenberger's funeral instead of Senna's, as he felt someone should have done.
But I think he wanted to make a point of going to the one.
but it really was a tragic weekend for formula one.
Were any rules brought in afterwards? I can imagine something was done.
and there were a lot of safety changes etc made in the sport.
Both for circuits and for cars (to do with height of driver's head etc.).
I've read that Senna had, after Ratzenberger's death, decided to reform the driver's association with some other drivers in a bid to improve safety. There's a fair shout to be had that had the regulations he was in favour of been brought in he would have survived, which is a tragic irony.
re: GP cover.
That's really sad about the funeral
apparently he had an Austrian flag in there which he was gonna wave at the end of the race in memory of Ratzenberger.
