I quite like the idea of setting one (or more) major personal achievement(s) for each decade of my life. So far mine are looking like this:

by the time I'm 30: Make an album I'm pleased with, release it, play it live. Visit Russia and travel to Vladivostok on the Trans-Siberian express (then down through Mongolia to Beijing). Also, go surfing at Hossegor.

by the time I'm 40: Set up a micro brewery, get approved by CAMRA, get my beer in some decent pubs. Live in California. Also, go surfing in Hawaii (north shore).

by the time I'm 50: Put on an exhibition of all the photographs I've taken over the course of my life that I'm really pleased with. Maybe build a small house / building to put it on in. Continue to surf.

Not really got any further with the plans for older age. Probably stuff like 'Keep wetting myself to a bare minimum' and such. You've got to aim high.
