La Liga is pretty shit hot at the moment...
Real Madrid have closed the gap on Barcelona to 4 points with 5 games to go - they meet on Saturday night at the Bernabeu for El Classico. That's going to be a cracking game. A look at the top goalscorers shows how great it is:
Eto'o 27, Villa 25, Forlan 23, Messi 21...
Biggest news from the Bundesliga at the weekend was from Bayern and their sacking of Klinsmann - in fear that the side will "not meet their minimum targets for the season." League winners? Runners up? Champions League Qualification? Take your pick. 3 games to go and 5 sides could still win the title with Wolfburg top of the pile at the moment. Take your pick from Wolfburg (57), Hertha Berlin (55), Bayern (54), Stuttgart (54), and Hamburg (54). Should be a good finish.
In France, Lyon look to have lost the title after winning it the past SEVEN seasons. What are the odds on Lyon having a 5th manager in 5 years then? Pretty likely I suspect. Marseille top the pile with 5 games to go. Bordeaux are trail by 4 but have an extra game in hand. Lyon trail by 6 but with 5 games to go I can't see Marseille AND Bordeaux fucking up enough for them to win it. It's always nice to see a change.
Over in Turkey and Sivasspor top the pile with 5 games to go with a 1 point advantage over Besiktas. Sivasspor won the TFF First League (i.e. Championship) in 2005. You have to go back 25 years since one of the big 3 (Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, and Be?ikta?) didn't win it and 3 years since they didn't occupy the top 3 place. It'll be amazing if they pull it off.
Looks like the race for the Golden Shoes is between Messi (34) and Eto'o (32). Ronaldo scored 41 last season to win it. Messi has Eto'o have upto 9 games left to beat 41. Pretty doable IMO.
