Question for those who have done/are doing a dissertation

whiterussian [Edit] [Delete] 20:57, 24 April '09

Firstly, I don't know about the technical lingo here. Is it called a dissertation thesis even if it's on undergradtuate level? If not, what else is it called?

Anyway. What I'm wondering is how specific or narrowed down this thesis or whatever it's called, typically has to be. If I decide to do one after the summer, I'll want to look into, in very broad terms, gender constructions in horror. Do you think, based on your own experiences, that I'd have to narrow it down to something like "I want to look at traditional feminist critique of the horror genre and ways in which it constructs gender"? As an example.

I realise I have to talk to tutors etc., but I'm not quite there yet so would just like to hear what you think - like I said, based on your own experiences with dissertation work.

Thanks!
