Barcelona

DrakeOtter [Edit] [Delete] 11 replies 00:18, 22 April '09

I'm going to Barcelona in 2 weeks for the first time, which I'm really looking forward to. However, due to being snowed under with uni work, namely The Dissertation, I haven't had the time to look into good touristy places to go.

Can anyone help?

  • Yes.

The Sagrada Familia (and the Hospital near it too)

Park Guell (possibly my favourite place in the whole world)

The area around the Olympics bit is pretty amazing too, especially the diving pool.

The beach and port areas are great.

Everyone says you should go to Las Ramblas and you sort of should 'cos all tourists go there but it's basically a street with a load of people trying to sell tourists crap and not really all that worthwhile.

    • When I went to Park Guell

there was a lovely bit of graffiti on the wall on the way up "A good tourist is a dead tourist". Made for a good photo opportunity.

  • Yep all teh Gaudi places also

The Palace of Music. Do the tour, when they talk about the acoustics it's pretty good and it's a beautiful building

And the markets on a Sunday.
    And city park; beautiful!

  • Try to get to the Sagrada Familia before 9

    to avoid the crush.

Also the Cathedral, the Barri Gotic and the Santa Maria del Mar are worth a look

    • Epic bumpage

I'm in Barcelona now and want to go to the Sagrada Familia tomorrow. Did you mean before 9am or 9pm to get there? Does it get lit up at night or is the main attraction going inside it?

  • If you go to las ramblas theres an amazing fruitmarket on it

i don't know what it's called. Its down near the bottom. I don't even know if it's open every day but i'd definitely recommend it. It's amazing.
