And if you do, how does it make you feel? Do you get a lot of funny looks? Be honest, it's Sharing Monday.
It's like saying 'who considers themselves to be a git'?
These terms are only applied to others surely?
left me a shout saying this -
' Holy shit hipster '
AM I COOL NOW?!?!
Kinda surprised that there are hipster in Malaysia though...
why would you get 'lots of funny looks'?
Musically, I would consider my tastes to be closest to that "hipster" p4k-loving scene than anything else.
I don't dress funny or anything though, dunno why people would stare at me...
I don't get all the DiS hate for them really. I'd assume a lot of people on here loosely fit into the brackets.
They're just sort of lame.
I'd still rather chill with a hipster than a charva.
thats full of hipster-ish people in all the trendy get up and that the atmosphere is so dead it really sucks, thats my only problem with um really. I've never seen a fun group of hipsters :( I'm well up for people making an effort with their clothes and following whats hot as long as they like it.
does that count?
(he seemed perfectly pleasant by the way)
Unfunny, yes. The two often go hand-in-hand though.
The number 12 looks like you vs A-trak or something
thanks slow brain
Where there's one there's usually the other. Like those birds which perch on elephants to warn of oncoming predators.
Holy shit, did I just hit on something there...
I'm too old and too provincial to know the difference. What is it please?
I always assumed it was the same thing. Plus I have no idea what a scene kid is either.
hipsters / scenesters / scene kids and now emos / the spanish / acctual truckers / goths?
I had a truckers' cap six or so years back - I used to be a scene kid but then I lost it in Pizza Express (I may have been a scene kid but I still knew my manners - not hats at the dining table).
that nu metal was big when I was a kid instead of this alternative.
nu metal rocked
i used to get laughed at for wearing a korn hoodie.young people who wear korn hoodies these days are heroes
I liked the roomy jeans best that needs to come right back in fashion they are loads more comfortable than skinnies.
so you can wear them - I'm not sure how that is superior to the mentality of a hipster
I was just joking about I've got both skinnies and baggy stuff and I wear them often if that helps with your assesments...
Hearing about the halcyon days of nu-metal always makes me cranky
it makes my brain hurt
of the music scene
I have floppy hair
I work as a graphic designer
I don't eat meat
I have a nose stud
I live a 25 second walk from Hoxton Square
I don't hate hipsters
I'm assuming this is more than enough for me to be tarred and feathered as a hipster
and they're certainly not cool or new bands if I do go. I think you have to be on the scene, or vaguely aware of it, to be a scenester
without being harsh, that kind of limits the amount of scenesters that are likely to be spending their day in the office on the internet
i'm not a scenester, but i like going to nice places, and am always interested when people talk about somewhere 'new' and 'exciting' though i might not get around to going for a while. i don't really like massive huge gatherings of bored looking people, but it's kind of necessary if you want to catch any good bands that might be playing in london town. scenesters don't really like reading and can't handle being in a group of less than six outfit-co-ordinated people, so i'm definitely not
it makes me feel proud to be the oldest scenester in town,
Skinny jeans. Yup.
Animal Collective T-shirt. Yup
A fringe. Yup.
Nah. I can see how someone might think so, but scenesters and hipsters put more effort in than this.
I hope not.
