It's ok but doesn't fill the whole screen - it's possible that this is linked to my incompetence.
Otherwise it depends on the spec of your computer and your TV. You can get stuff that converts VGA to Composite video (which can be plugged through a small adapter into SCART) or you can get HDMI stuff or TVs that also take VGA in natively.
i'm assuming to burn them to RW DVDS i'll need a DVD re-writer?
My knowledge of computers is limited as you may have noticed
The trick is normally whether you can get a package to write the movies for you.
If you bought a standalone DVD Writer then you should have bought the one with the bundled software.
PowerProducer from Cyberlink and Nero Vision from Nero will both let you just drop a ripped TV AVI onto a disc project put in chapters (if you wish) and then burn it out as a DVD Video.
That said, a PS3 or Xbox 360 (maybe PS/2 or Xbox) should both be able to read the AVIs directly off a disc so there's no need to burn them as a proper DVD Video.
then just get a video av cable (yellow to yellow) mine has that but the reseloution looks DISGUSTING on standard def tv
