There, I said it.
De La Soul
yup, really bad.
I didn't think much of Madlib or Rahzel, but the others were all great.
What hip-hop acts would you like to see at ATP instead?
my liberal, guardian reading friend who likes coffee (and coffee shops) and indie pop music a fair amount, only really listens to "old school" hip-hop. He's such a sterotype.
As pointed out above.
but, y'know, Ghostface is still good live (as is GZA), so can't complain too much really. Getting some more current stars to play would be good (e.g. Young Jeezy, Lil Boosie, J-Zone, Lil Wayne, Clipse), but then atp isn't really that kind of festival so it seems unfair to criticise them for it.
I mean it looks alright still but some big stupid hype party hip-hop would liven the place up. I'm not arsed about hip-hop people doing tracks and stuff I just want to hear them on sets with a good DJ and getting a party going. I doubt that really happens anymore tho does it :(
I want more dance music at ATP as well, I think its the only thing other than money stopping me going.
oh yeah turns out J-Zone is playing the breeders ATP I just saw him on the bill.
I guess there's a tendancy with atp to pick revered older acts, especially when it comes to dance music or hip-hop. I mean I think the majority of people that they get to play are dead good, just maybe when it comes to dance music and hip-hop they could get some more current folk to do it. I'm no atp hater though, they do a good job!
for the vast majority of festivals we don't pick the bands
I'm guessing I'm wrong about that then
unless it says curated by ATP then its 100% picked by the bands. which is why, naming no names, you see some stuff none of us would ever pick on the lineups.
can't think why it hasn't happened tbh
for Vs The Fans.
Eshaton has it spot on, but it'd be great to see some hip hop at ATP that isn't completely earnest and dull. I'd kill to see Three 6 Mafia there, especially if they brought Computer and Big Triece over. It couldn't fail to be the most awesome weekend ever!
and Jeezy. Three 6 Mafia would be awesome as well. We could all pop our collective collars
