i did. i still am a bit.
My brother and I always tried to finish Lavender Town as soon as possible. Catch a Gengar, get the badge, never go back. Oof.
as soon as i went near lavender town the volume had to be OFF. i hated the pokemon tower too. that was the most scared i got playing games when i was younger, pokemon.
You had to trade a Haunter with another player.
I wasn't cool as a child, can you tell? :D
didn't turn it off or anything, but I'd be lying if I said, that it wasn't at least a little scary.
Lavender Town was the place with all the ghosts, right? I thought the story of the ghosts was pretty sad, so this music always gave a kind of pathos to the town. Plus, I just liked it. I'm a weirdo, but.
Murdered Pokemon. :(
always got to me slightly :(
as nothing so cuddly should ever be allowed to die. But then they released the movie and Pikachu died for a minute, then revived by Pokemon tears. :'(
i always felt really sad for the wild pokemon who you killed. what happened to them? were there just loads of dead/fainted pokemon lying around in the grass. THAT'S SAD.
and then recove; surely?
do there would be loads just lying around, at least for a while. and how did they die? why did they faint and not die all the time? HUH? I NEED ANSWERS
and then heal them. Right? Right? RIGHT!? FUCKING RIGHT!? :'(
THEY DIED, POPTIMUS, THEY DIED.
I've spent too many sleepless nights clutching my GameBoy.
What was REALLY sad was the episode of the cartoon when Ash had to release his Butterfree into the wild. Had me in tears, that did.
how come the ones in the tower were dead?
how couldn't you finish them off FOR GOOD?
There was death in Pokemon, but it was always from old age or something that bad people like Team Rocket would do.
Also, remember, that you're not killing them yourself, you're ordering your Pokemon to fight another Pokemon, and they probably know when to stop hitting to stop each other dying.
they can only die of OLD AGE. even team rocket never killed them, just made them faint, yeah?
this is answering the most important questions of my childhood.
They were basically the mafia, but used powerful Pokemon to coerce people into doing stuff instead of (presumably much more effective) firearms.
I do remember there being something about Team Rocket killing unworthy Pokemon though, but out of sight and so on. Pokemon could also die in fires and falling off things etc.
this is what kept me awake at night though
i was too busy SOBBING TEARS OF TERROR about the music in lavender town.
get yo' priorities right.
tbh, the only music I really remember from pokemon was the fight sequence music...
Incidentally, this thread has got me listening to a playlist of the music from Link Zelda: Link's Awakening. There's some awesome stuff that I don't even remember being in the game...
They weren't all limp wrists and talking cats. Team Rocket: SRS BSNS.
It's genuinely depressing that I cried more at this than at any funeral.
and trying to zap him back to life, going "PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!" That was really upsetting.
best thing i have ever cried at.
it sounds great reversed too.
No one believed me.
