there is not a more pleasing combination of words in the english dictionary than that.
football's biggest victims out. brings a tear to the eye.
my post had nothing whatsoever to do with hillsborough. as tragic as it was, i'm a little repulsed by that supposed 'neutral' commentry on itv.
at least a madrid fan made the thread and not someone who's into an english team.
at the resentment Liverpool attract. Off the field, other clubs (i.e. Man Utd, Munich crash) don't receive criticism for commemorating tragic events. On the field, they've developed well over recent years and could well win the title. Arguably deserved, given they've played better football than United this year.
they overshoot themselves year in year out and its fun to see them crash and burn. Man U fans are cocky, but they've got every right to be. They actually win things. They definitely wont win the title this year, and the champions league is an easier competition to win than the premiership.
I'm just speaking for the majority of liverpool fans i've met anyway. Tottenham used to win things too.
doesn't matter, because it's coming from somebody who follows an overseas league.
if you had any loyalty to a club in the prem, maybe we could talk this through, but as it stands, you're just a bitter onlooker.
I dont really feel anything when they win though, because they play boring football and are financed by a russian tyrant. I can still appreciate the above though.
Its weird, tonight i was more concerned with liverpool losing than chelsea winning. Maybe there's something wrong with me. What can I say, I just dont particularly like the club, and many of their fans irritate the hell out of me.
theres something satisfying about the fact that they just got knocked out of the one competition they seem to covet more than any other team because they won it a few times in the 70's and 80's. Real Madrid have won it more than liverpool and their fans don't constantly go on about it. (i support deportivo). Granted, they are all facists.
the attitude of their fans, who by and large come across as horrible horrible people that think they have a god given right to win stuff.
re. commemorating tragic events, i really don't want to get into it this week - but there's far far less controversy around Munich than there is around hillsborough. and there's a certain level of culpability that plenty see to lie with liverpool fans. plus heysel and athens etc.
and obviously there's the whole hating the succesful team from when you grew up thing.
but i think most of that kind of resentment between fans is generally banter.
there's an edge to teams hating liverpool that's down to the history.
but like i said, i don't really want to get into it. i'm just offering an explanation.
Your last point? Sure.
Your first point? Sure.
We've got nothing to lose at the moment. You've got the 'quintuple' to lose - the achievement you've tried convincing everyone you're bound to win. We've got one thing to win at the moment, and while you're still the favourites, you certainly don't look too convincing.
what has what we have to win got to do with someone asking why liverpool are resented more than united?
and i am pretty rational. i despise liverpool, but there's no point being ridiculous abou it. i can fully accept that you've probably been the best team in the league for chunks of this season, and that if you win it it'll be deserved.
doesn't for a minute mean i wouldn't hate it happening.
equally though, were we to win then we'd deserve it. regardless of how convincing we've been.
and for the record, i think we'll lose two more games at least. just hope arsenal can beat you next week.
above all i hate how everyone in the media supports them and loves them.
the itv commentary tonight was ridiculous.
"chelsea fans have been given flags to wave tonight"
*shot of liverpool scallies looking distraught*
"this lot bring their own"
"that magical night in istanbul"
"GERRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRDDDD....throw in to [the opposition]"
Do you honestly think Clive Tyldesley is anything other than a United fan?
There are numerous websites documenting his wanking over the fateful night in whatever it fucking was.
- the night in Istanbul WAS magical
- if Cheslea fans were given flags to wave - what's your fucking problem?
the one sidedness of tonights commentary was obvious. Tydesley bums liverpool almost as much as he does united.
i have no problem with that, but for that guy to make a point that liverpool fans are supposedly better...well, there's my fucking problem. if you can't see through your tears that the commentary was completely biased then you should use your david ngog shirt to wipe your eyes mate.
Unlike most of the Chelsea fans on here, I was watching it in a pub.
Keep us updated on the final.
they were completely all over liverpool, as they always are.
if you can't see that the commentating was biased tonight and always is when liverpool play on itv, then allow that shit. everyone else can see that it was.
you, a guy who 'follows' chelsea and a united fan? yeah.
go on 606 or football365 right now and you'll see others who think the same.
and i agree chelsea have it BY FAR the worst from commentators. probz cos you have the most villainous to actual quality ratio of the top 4 mebbe.
and i was watching it in my living room with quite a few people going mental, so could barely hear the commentary. probably was biased, but your points above were pretty lol.
and to act as if liverpool have more bias than man utd is MAD, shitbird. and whilst it isnt so much true nowadays because theyre pretty awful and amusing, the biased toward arsenal a few years ago was the worst ive ever come across. HENRY IS JESUS. HE JUST FUCKING PASSED IT TWO YEARDS TO PIRES. DID YOU SEE THAT!?"!?2?"?!"e"?.?wef forrrrrking incredible m8.
they played football that you could make love to.
how worried are you about playing them?
read a good article the other day about how teams in spain have been pretty much giving up after one goal's gone against them.
barca are very suspect at the back, and won't be used to the amount of pressing essien mikel and lampard'll put on.
but drogba is finding form that makes him "unplayable" as the journos love to say. i think ivanovic can match messi for pace, he's surprisingly quick, and having a right footer at left back could be a blessing as he does like to cut inside from the right.
our midfield is almost as good as theirs, definitely stronger, and our strikers and midfielders can cause their shaky defence a bit of trouble. we need to make sure we score more than we ship basically, as stopping them could be really tough. i can't wait to see the matches though, especially if they're anything like they were a couple of years ago.
proved that messi can be contained. especially if you're strong in the centre, evra managed to pretty much show him inside where he was tackled all the time last year.
course they're a better side this time, but i they've really not played anyone difficult.
than it is towards united. just that it was really embarassing.
letting a spanish ref officiate a game in which the winners play a spanish side is ridiculous, especially as ashley cole was one yellow away from missing the next game - he got yellowed for ONE foul. mascherano got nothing for persistent fouling. paranoia instilled by jose mourinho, maybe, but that's how i see it.
jaaaaaaysus. probs about as many as went liverpool's way. jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaysus. awful referee but not at all biased toward's either side. cole's was a booking i reckon.
imma watching the wire and i wanna call someone shitbird. I think you're pretty cool and usually right about stuff (Y), but couldnt really disagree with you more on this, shitbird.
were coles yellow, and mascherano not getting one.
thought arbeloa should've been sent off too, but can understand it wasn't a malicious challenger really.
but i don't know, cole's challenge was a booking but after one foul? a bit harsh, in my opinion.
shitbird is a good word. i hope you're realising how incredible the wire is.
just rewatching whilst its on in the background.
it IS incredible, probably the 3rd best show ive ever seen. only thing is i think lost and twin peaks are better. and i probably had more enjoyment through watching gilmore girls and studio 6 probably, shitbird.
they speak too fast. the ma's a MILF though. smoking hottie.
what's twin peaks like?
twin peaks might just edge it over lost for me, dunno. murder mystery set in a mountain town. incredible sense of atmosphere, best soundtrack (and use of) ive come across, and really good humour and stuff. some of the characters too, oh man. oman.
i personally think it's a better show than the wire cos of the sense of iconography and otherworldly atmosphere it has that i cant even describe. the wire just seems so... bland in comparison
you have to admit that was a pretty incredible game
quality of football was poor though, or at least not good enough to constitute a 'great game' in itself.
i'm no chelsea fan but liverpool = hahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahah. ha.
poor dirk :( I love the guy. I'd have him in any team. Best liverpool player easily.
reasonable success. Gerrard/Carragher have won every medal at club level, with the obvious exception of the Premier League. From which I wouldn't be quite to so immediate to discount this year. Plenty of games remaining, and United still look vulnerable at times.
Our hopes for the rest of the season:
Arsenal: FA Cup
Anyone other than United: Champions League
