just don't expect for anything really to happen in it
but its not really a filmy film with anything going on. He just kinda wanders about and mumbles until well... you know what happens to him.
watched Milk today though. enjoyed it.
Nothing happens. Really. Not in a good way. Did you ever see that film 'Old Joy' with Will Oldham in it? That is pretty good nothing happens. This was bad nothing happens.
The bit where he dies is unbelievably awful
Kim Gordon is in it
Definitely avoid. It made my brother really angry though which was funny.
Good film (y)
I was trying to think of my favourite film in which nothing happens but it's taking 10 minutes for every thread to load today so i'm just going to go to bed instead :(
Broken Flowers has long periods of nothing and I liked that also. He just drove around the country listening to cool tunes.
Lost In Translation isn't the same kind of 'nothing'. if you go into it expecting that, you're gonna be disappointed.
it's more the Bela Tarr, Andy Warhol, Tarkovsky kind of nothing. Putting the 'minimal' into 'minimalist'. but if you can cope with 90 minutes of 'mood', then it's such a special 'mood'.
I find it really relaxing I'm a sucka for Gus Van Sant stuff though I just love the feel of his films.
Van Sant has always skirted close to the edge of self-consciousness, and in this film I think he just tipped over and as a result it didn't feel as intuitive and observational as his best films.
I dunno, it didn't feel effortless, and instead a little heavy-handed.
but its pretty interesting I think.
The others in the death trilogy thingy pull it off better I think.
For soem reason I really love My Own Private Idaho I found it in a bargin big on dvd ages ago and fell in love with it.
I have it on an old, worn out, VHS somewhere.
