Has anyone got any recommendations for things to do?
I'll put it on the list though.
Think they're called love hotels.
visit one of the many parks in tokyo
will add it to my list.
how long you there for?
If you're going to Harajuku to check out the Harajuku girls on Sunday then make sure you go to the art gallery because its the cheapest place I found in all of Tokyo for a few drinks! Plus it's really nice venue.
And although there's nothing really there go for a walk around the neighbourhood in Yanaka, it's awesome! You get crazy mad Shinjuku and crazy old school Asakusa but this is the middle ground, just beautiful houses and tiny little shops and its the only place that isn't obviously geared up for tourists.
Get to the Mori Modern Art museum in Roppongi - mega weird art on the 50th floors of a tower block overlooking the city.
The fish market is amazing, but you'll need to get up really early.
Harajuku is bizarre in the extreme, Shinjuku good at night, but a bit sleazy in the day.
If you want to get to a gig, go on tokyogigguide.com - it's in English and will tell you how to get to the venue.
But basically, Tokyo (and Japan in general) is so DIFFERENT that you'll have great fun just walking about.
but I'm absolutely terrified of not being able to understand ANYTHING.
but it doesn't really make any difference to the experience, it's not daunting or anything. The first day on the underground is a little but you soon get used to it
White Lies are palying on my last day, so I'll check them out, just to see what a gig in Japanland is all about.
for 10 days, but with 2 days in Hiroshima in the middle, on the Sunday, fuck.
