Is it REALLY acceptable to be charged full train fare if....
a large % of the journey is done via bus
I say this because last weekend I paid £28.30p for a open ended return ticket Brighton <---> London. The trip there was fair enough but I HATE the fact what should be an approx 49minute journey (in other words what I paid for) turned into an almost 3hour journey on the way back.
Firstly, I was forced to take a train that seemed to stop EVERYWHERE with a name as opposed to the speedy 3 stop only bastard I have grown to love (and paid for) only to have to get off at 3bridges in order to get a bus! By the time I got to the bus my journey had already taken to the uncomfortable side of an hour but to be greeted by a bus with no toilets, trolleys will automatically extend the journey. Only to be greated by gridlock from the comunters comming back into Brighton which lead to it being about an hour and a half journey, call my cynical but I get the train as opposed to the COACH to avoid both these problems.
Now basically I didnt get what I paid for yet they refused to give me a refund, at the end of the day they did get me from point a to point b but at the end of the day.... if I wanted a fucking bus i would pay for a coach which is significantly cheaper. I got a train ticket, that was not a train! Therefor I was missold, fuck southern rail!
