Maybe in the distant future. Can't see it happening for a while though. Boring.
You mean 'most interesting premiership in years', considering the open-ness of both the title race and the relegation battle?
I'd hardly say the title race is open, it's only between two sides surely?
Although Norwich are on the rise. WATCH OUT.
give us 5 or 6 seasons and we'll be battling for top 4 in the premiership again
Doesn't make it boring though, the same team winning it easily every year is boring, but this season has been good so far.
have people forgotten Blackburn already?
And Blackburn were the club throwing money around during the mid-nineties, so things can certainly change.
Aren't QPR the richest club in England or something though?
it's always been Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal & Chelsea. I'm sorry for being so pedantic, but that doesn't make any sense.
for 3 out of 4 seasons between 93/94 and 96/97, yeah?
Plus again in 2003.
they finished 13th in 1998?
it wasn't called the "big 4" then was it? It's always been the 4 clubs it is now. Fool.
Chelsea were a mid-table side with limited financial resources until about six years ago.
My point was that apart from Man Utd, none of the current 'big four' have been challenging for the premiership title throughout its existance.
They haven't finished outside the top 6 for 13 years!
Us and the Mancs.
People always whinge that its not competitve, but Utd, are the Liverpool of the 80's. In the 80's you had Pool, Toffees, Forest and Villa getting success, but then they were the Big 4.
70's it was probably Liverpool, Leeds
And 7 years ago Leeds & Newcastle would have been considered part of the Big 4 if you like.
Something will happen to upset the status quo. Wenger will leave, Fergie will leave, Chelsea will go bust, UEFA will bring in rules on player limits, somehting like that will happen, and new teams will join the Big 4 of the time, MAn City will probably come in, there may even be a European Super League where the Big 4 aren't even part of the Premier League, and the league is contested by Spurs, Villa, Everton and West Ham.
I remember being furious that Forest weren't part of that, despite their success
like when Blackburn won it?
all made it up there when they had the funds, Chelsea only recently became part of a 'big 4' and it's not like a team like City or someone could get up there with the right investment.
Other teams than Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea will win it but by that time they won't be seen as outside the "big four" 'cos they're challenging for the title.
We're never going to have a top flight in which more than 4 or so sides can feasibly compete for the title. Those 4 sides will change over time. I've already lived through a relegation and a title win for my club and I should have another 50 or 60 years in me...
