namely an atp with people you dont know?
cause I really wanted to see 1 or 2 of the bands.
it wasn't too bad but I didn't particularly enjoy it.
havent been to an atp in years and i've missed so man great festivals because no one ever is bothered. I think it might actually be easier than at gigs because you can just get lost in the crowd and feel alot less conspicuous that at a small gig
i enjoyed it even more than the year before when i was there with friends. met loads of people to talk too and saw more stuff - fucking great. i'd have no hesitations about going to a festival on me bill again.
and it was so much better on my own for the same reasons. I can see my friends anytime, so it was nice to meet some new people (who I still in fact keep in contact with)
I get depressed enough going to gigs on my own. I suppose ATP is slightly different, as you'd have to talk to people as you'd be staying in a chalet with them.#
festival no. A lone festival would probably be the worst expensive thing you could do to yourself
it was good. i like going to gigs on my own though.
it would be a horribly depressing experience
But anywhere else then no i wouldn't.
or maybe a european one, anywhere with a good line up is bound to have like minded people (not that i'd ever actually talk to anyone)
as they want to see bands like oasis, whereas id rather go see something more intresting. and i do go to loads of gigs by myself
but its the spending 3 days in a chalet with guys i dont know.and the fact that i am really shy.
because of chalet sahring..as someone mentioned.
Primavera might be nice..you can wonder off betwee nbands yourself.
I can imagine supersonic being very depressing when you are on your own though
I went to Green Man by myself, and met people who are regulars, so I will have friends when I get there. I really enjoyed it last year. I was hardly ever in my tent anyway, and when I was I was totally comatose.
I booked to go to Bestival by myself with some trepidation, but now I've found out by pure chance that some of my friends from Eastleigh will be there. I'll be looking to camp near them.
I'm going again to Primavera by myself. But as I'm staying in a nice posh hotel, and the place will be full of the same people I see at gigs it will be no different to the usual. I would like to meet a few people from here there though.
what a shower of wimps
went to leeds 2003 on my own - one of the best festivals i ever went to. spiderman-kissed a girl called natalie, made friends with two lovely welshies called darren and alisha and generally had a brilliant time.
i suppose some people can have a better time in their own company than others, but man up the lot o' youse.
I agree anyway (god's teeth, Gordon Bennett, other exclamations). When I do go to festivals with people it's not as if we're watching all the same bands all of the time anyway, you have to run off for a bit and do your own thing. And then depending on your phone battery/the size of the festival you might never find them until you're going to sleep again.
At Leeds 2004 my friends all got high and lay on the floor grabbing at thin air while listening to Dark Side Of The Moon so I had to go find new friends.
It'd be pretty daunting doing so at Glastonbury I reckon.
I really do recommend going to Leeds or Reading with a one day pass
I did this in 2005 and I had a brilliant day - saw Arcade Fire and danced with complete strangers to We Are Scientists -it was a memorable experience
