Do you think sport is more enjoyable if you're a neutral spectator/enthusiast

musicismyradar [Edit] [Delete] 21:10, 1 April '09

Say if you understand the entire concept and rules of a certain sport, but didn't support anyone as such, do you think you'd find it more enjoyable?

For example, I like Formula 1. Lots. But I don't especially support anyone. Certainly not to the fanatical level you'd find in say football. May have the odd flourish of support for Williams and Rosberg, but not an overwhelming one whereby its all i care about during a race.

As a result, i can sit back and appreciate the ins and out of F1, the strategy, who's catching who, who's faster than who etc. It's the same when i follow Australian Touring Cars, i dont buy into the rivalries and all that jazz, but I really enjoy the racing.

I'm sure this applies to other sports. Do you need some element of focus (such as a team or player/driver/participant to support, or are you happy to sit back and watch it totally neutrally?
