Stella Artois
The most unfairly treated member of the beer world?
I was always put off it by the 'it turns everyone into COCKS' as if it's crack or something, but it's tasty, cheap and refreshing.
Stella Artois: naughty villain or unsung hero?
Unsung hero.
It's very weak.
I defy anyone to tell me it's particularly strong.
I'm a Bud man myself, always will be. I do like the occasional Stella.
blargh. bud.
especially if it's bud light. but to each their own, i guess. :)
before the "especially if it's bud light" there is supposed to be i can't drink bud.
Unsung hero, definitely
I've liked it for years now, it's just pretty damn tasty and doesn't taste like watered down piss, like so many other lagers do.
I agree that it has a bad reputation, people always seem surprised when you're drinking it or make some comment about it being about its strength and being "wife beater", well I don't have a wife, so does that make it ok?
It turns cocks into more obvious cocks, it doesn't do anything to genuinely nice people and anyone that says otherwise is very silly indeed.
"about it being about its strength and being"
I really don't know what I was on about here, but you get the point.
^ this
Stella is better than most mainstream lagers. Hurrah for Stella.
used to be really good
problem is they've cut corners on the recipe year upon year to cut costs in the UK
the reputation's far worse than the beer is though
the artois family in general
is very strong, I dont know why this has been braught up so much today, national stella appriciation day?
unsung hero
has a decent taste, much better than most other standard lagers, and definitely doesnt deserve the reputation.
unsung hero
but not as much as Coors Light
I really hate the taste of it
It tastes like nasty chemicals. Maybe the rep has coloured my judgement. At Roskilde they had it in a foreign delicacy beers tent which seemed a bit wrong
Did anyone else love those stella adverts?
in the old style pubs? I thought they were really decent and the whole "reasuringly expensive" phrase seemed like pretty a good marketing ploy. People know it's expensive compared to other lagers so no one is going to say "wait a minute, it's expensive, better not buy it then", it could however appeal to people in other ways.
too fizzy for me
but i'll drink it over fosters any day
but the cunt factor aside
it doesn't even taste as nice as other corporate lagers
Like what?
name the better ones
becks vier and 1664
there's one of the carlsbergs that's not too vile as well
Export?
Not bad choices (the complete list would go something like this)
stella
san miguel
1664
becks vier
grolsch
becks regular
budweiser
carlsberg export (preferably the extra cold version)
fosters
regular carlsberg
...
...
...
...
...
...
carling (a.k.a - piss)
I bet there's a really obvious one I've left out, I just know it.
oh yeah
Coors can go above Carlsberg Export, it's a refreshing enough lager, but I wouldn't have it very often.
For fruitier taste
always Star, ALWAYS!
^worst chatup line ever
I love beer!
i enjoy stella, but then again it's not so readily available to me i think.
great beer
decent taste, all natural ingredients, that extra kick to each pint. The way it's viewed is shit though.. there's been numerous occassions where the barmaid's face has dropped from pleasant friendliness to disdain as you order it, as if you've just given yourself away as a pathetic alcoholic. The accuracy of that final bit notwithstanding, this just aint right
People are just generally surprised that I drink it
like it's weird that a young guy with a feminine(ish) indie boy look and a relatively posh voice, would order a pint of the stuff. Weird.
Probably my favourite Beer
The negative assumptions and connotations from some people are astounding.
