i woke up to a huge bang and the house alarm going off. i jumped out of bed, light on and ran downstairs, half expecting to meet someone on the stairs. i got to the alarm and typed in the code and spun around, waiting in the sudden silence to hear if anyone was in the house. i waited there until i was sure there was noone. back in my room i noticed a painting had fallen off the wall and hit what looked like a panic alarm. i got back into bed but two minutes later i heard sirens and two police cars pulled up outside - they banged on the windows and i went downstairs and had to apologise to them. fortunately they saw the funny side. I didn't even know i had a panic alarm - or that it went straight to the police. pretty cool! but i am so on edge i had to post this - i don't think i will sleep for a while....
