I've never really understood it?
disciplined, gracious in defeat, honest and a total professional to me. Never makes excuses, never goes down easy, always makes himself available for a pass and when he gets criticised, he just rises to the challenge.
He's another Beckham. Everyone will slag him off for years and then go all mushy on him when he's in his twilight years and poor constant praise on him.
After the Chelsea vs Southend match, he supposedly thanked the ground staff and shook all the players hands. He was also, by far and away, the only player who took both legs very seriously and did the job he was supposed to regardless of the lowly opposition.
Sounds like a decent guy to me...
I don't think they compare in the slightest.
One is sometimes a plonker, the other...
the way he went about his business after leaving west ham was unnacceptable. he's a grade a tosser.
I really like Lampard, think he is an excellent footballer and a big game player.
Typically it's fat fans who call players fat too.
who's about 100 times better for his club then his country doesn't really help to endear him to the Enlgish nation.
Instead of Bent & Agbonhalor
Agreed, he's not always at his best for England. But those games where he played without Gerrard just behind the front two? We ruled...
Also the same for Gerrard
I read it in the Daily Mirror
said he was a good bloke. obviously though judge_b is more in a position to cast judgement
on the pitch however, i really rate him and i reckon he's stepped up his game in the last 2 seasons (this one especially). i still think he should have gone abroad and made himself amazing tho.
he's better than gerrard too.
He just scores his goals before the 90th minute, so doesn't have the same 'hero' status...
He's scored at least two injury time winners this season
Lampard is a better player as well, much more happy keeping things ticking over nicely instead of attempting Hollywood balls and stuff. And he dives a whole load less as well.
To be fair I gained more respect for Frank after how he dealt with his mother dying.
It's not as if he turned around and cunted off all his old fans at his old club is it? He always takes the time to remind everyone how helpful West Ham were in his football development, always.
The man is a stand up professional, never moans. He isn't one bit arrogant.
All, that badge kissing? It's passion. Passion for football, passion for chelsea. Nothing to do with the fact that he gets payed about 120 grand a week. Not one bit.
What possible reason could people have to bear a grudge against a wealthy, successful, talented and handsome man?
You? I think olegrich is interested too.
I've just seen our allocation for the semi-final. Looks like I'll just have to stand outside Wembley on the day looking like the little match stick boy.
brentford isn't too far from here.
haha i know what you mean. guess you gotta wait a week and see if there are any after the season ticket holders get their turn. how many loyalty points do you have?
Their site is down now so cannae check. Should be about 40/45.
I should never have let my old membership account lapse when I went to uni, lost a whole load of points then.
Maybe I'll see you about then. Last reserve game I went to we won 6-0, can't see that happening to Arsenal.
he always takes the shot, even though everyone else is in a better position and despite the fact that he's useless at shooting from the sort of distances he likes to fancy himself at.
My love of the international game is more or less dead...
Club football >>>> club rugby
International rugby >>>>>>> international football
(should do from Brentford and Fulham supporters to, but that would involve recognising either club as being worthwhile).
Anyone else with a buring hatred for Chelsea is just as bad as the suburban Herts born and bred, 'JT 2006' shirt-clutching fuckwits who "discovered" Chelsea in the last 5 years as far as I'm concerned
Much more complete and rounded game.
If I was picking a player for a final, I'd pick Gerrard.
If I was picking a player to play all the games to get to the final, I'd pick Lampard
but I should have also said Leeds
and everything that's "gone on" since alongside that rather than instead of?
I perhaps didn't explain my point to well; it's more when seemingly the entire following of a club has a really passionate and intense hatred of Chelsea that I wonder where it has come from. Most of it is bandwagon jumping.
If you want to Ken Bates 'cos he's a cock and Chelsea by association, I cannae begrudge that. But if Sheffield Wednesday fans en mass developed a full-blown hate/rivalry of/with of Chelsea... well, that would be stupid.
but we said no so he went to leeds instead. think they were a club more in line with his personality. i.e. PRICKZ
favourite ken bates quote, after chelsea got relegated, to assembled journalists (not exactly right, i'm sure): "I'm off to my 20 acre country estate. you lot can fuck off back to your council estates." something along those lines, anywayz
who (granted did save the club at one point) came very close to destroying it before it was sold to Abramovich. People have this idea that the tranfer fees and wages Chelsea were paying prior to Roman coming in is what pushed the club towards the edge of extinction. It wasn't. Bates' ridiculously financed real estate investments and unsuccessful Chelsea Village brand is what left the club in such hideous debt.
Odious little man. If only he'd been in that helicopter rather than Matthew Harding
I wouldn't say I hate Mr Lampard. I dislike him quite a lot but no more than many top flight players. Why? In part he's part of the problem behind my apathy towards the England team that has been growing since the World Cup (players not reproducing club form on the international stage), the whole contract saga followed my shirt kissing in the summer. More than both of those though, my wife used to have a thing for him and I'm automatically programmed to dislike these men. (Dom from Dick & Dom, Kelly Jones and Craig Doyle, this means you too!)
I must admit to having a healthy degree of respect for him - he's got where he is through sheer hard work and dedication rather than natural ability.
Sort of nasally/mockney/dumbshit mix.
He could say... 'Mclusky were the most underrated band of the naughties, and I'm very much looking forward to the new Beirut LP, and I'm off to save a hundred adorable kittens from the cattery before they're put down. And here, have my last Rolo..."
and I'd still despise him.
one of my favorite players.
and part backlash over those in the media who appear to want to have his babies (see also Steven Gerrard and John Terry). He's not helped by being seen to be part of a clique of English players that have pretty awful attitudes either.
