Mine are colour coded, which looks AWESOME, but makes individual titles quite hard to find sometimes...
My DVDs are:
Top shelf- TV Shows that I love
Second shelf- TV Shows that I love but a little less than the top shelf ones
Third shelf- Films, documentaries, stand-up and gigs
Fourth shelf- Films & TV Shows I don't much care for any more
not deliberately like in High Fidelity, just naturally filling up one space then moving into another (bands catalogues are kept together in release order obviously)
dvds = colour
with boxsets getting a space or a shelf to themselves
i used to keep them batched in genres, but that confused mrs c_c_b
I take last names before first & comps go into various artists. And it's all in order of when it was released. And bootlegs/live albums go in relation to when they were recorded, or after the album they were touring etc. And I don't own any vinyls as my place isnt a mansion and thus not able to store more than I already have.
my cds with me are just in a pile next to them. but most of my cds are in racks back at the family home.
apart from the ones i listen to most are at the top of my cd towers. I'd like to colour code them, i've pretty much memorised all the spine colours anyway..
maybe one day.
obsessively by Artist (and within artist by release date).
Bon Iver: I'm correct in filing this under B, right? Or should it be under I? I realise his real name is Beardy McTears but is the Bon a made-up forename (like Bon Scott from AC/DC)?
its a swedish phrase or something. so a band name. file under b
isn't it like "good winter" in french "bon hiver"? i thought i'd check, though.
Other stuff is just scattered around my room or jammed into the other racks in no real order.
Tv boxed sets for dvds are in order as are all my Arnie films.
in terms of artist/series and then in order of release.
Everything I've acquired more recently than that is scattered among various different piles.
i tried genre once, but this just confused me and i gave up half way through
Things I haven't listened to for ages at the bottom. It's an emergent structure.
so my DVD'S at the moment go from my Terry Malick quadruple to In the mood for love, which I didn't like that much.
The rest are just bunged together
Boxsets: However I can fit them on the shelf.
I don't have..
DVDs: loosely by genre, like in a video shop.
in piles in many different rooms in my house
by artist then album then single, all chronologically.
vinyl, loosely by genre.
I do colour code my tshirts though.
also, please stop saying 'yr', it's horrible
other TV + misc.
no order for cds
i have separate files on my computer for all different artists?
and my CDs are in a shoebox at home in just a random order
