apologies if this is a really thick question. not exactly something i know loads about : IMM'A BOY LOL!!!
and one is print?
or alluding to JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY?
plus perez usually has more content/sources plus video and better photos. it's generally a lot better if you want to read up on gossipy stuff. and it's sometimes funny. which Heat isn't. the best thing about Heat is the tv listings.
90% of the former two's readership wouldn't dream of buying either of the latter
They're two different kinds of celebrity gossip outlets. I read the BBC's and Reuter's news websites, so wouldn't dream of buying a newspaper. There isn't much more to it than that.
I doubt that. I would've thought there was a huge crossover between Perez's readership and Heat's. I demand evidence!
like I said, not something i know loads about and could easily be wrong here. just get the impression that one is "acceptable" to read, whereas the other isn't really. but i could easily be confusing that with an issue of convenience & £££$$$.
I just know my gf reads Oh No They Didn't on livejournal cos it's free and never-ending, plus has links to videos and stuff as sarkyfox says. She also buys Heat on occasion if she is bored or is planning to be bored.
I would've thought they appeal to roughly the same people, just the internet ones are more handy than the printed ones if your online a lot, and vice versa. I'm sure a Perez fan would have a wee read of Heat while waiting at the hairdresser or something.
Like yourself, I am mainly ignorant though, so there may be exhelons of stratification that I am just unaware of. Maybe Perez fans totally look down their nose at Heat readers. Who knows?
but more likely that mums would buy heat, and not go on perez hilton.com
but that's more to do with onlineyness and stuff I'd've thought. Like I said above, I doubt perez readers would avoid looking at Heat if it were lying about and they were bored.
and neither are Perez and tmz.
heat is all about the lolz, whereas OK does the cheesy srs bsns photo spreads and boring interviews.
tmz just generally pass on what a spokesperson has said, or put up the bare facts, and Perez does his whole perez-stylee posts (cocks drawn on people's faces, ending every post with "What do U think????"). Perez also likes to humiliate young women in particular and is creepily obsessed with certain young male celebrities and stuff. tmz doesn't have any kind of personal spin like perezhilton.com.
a large part of the readership of the former two would look down on the latter two?
just kinda want that clarifying really. i've always thought it was like that but apparently i'm massively wrong :(
I'd say there's a massive cross-over between perez's readership and heat's readership.
And then, tmz is kinda like the Reuters of the gossip world so I don't think people who read gossip magazines would look down on it really. Perez Hilton though, is like the Richard Littlejohn opinion piece of celebrity blogging, and is geared towards a younger audience. So, considering most people who read OK are probably pretty old, I guess OK readers mightn't read him.
But basically, tmz =/= perezhilton, and heat =/= OK. They both cater to different tastes within their respective media.
I'm just rambling. kjglkrqgrhsadsfaf.
