I don't get it. How come these two have a show, and Adam and Joe can't get a look in on the telly?
i'd be interested in hearing from someone who's seen it, but when one of the punchlines is the big one saying in a squeaky voice "i'm gonna get bummed by a big gay werewolf" i don't hold much hope.
Didn't write or direct or anything. All actors are allowed to be in a few dodgy films, god knows Simon Pegg will be in anything that 5 or more Americans might watch.
or why he even thought he should go into comedy in the first place
There was that bit in an old Buzzcocks episode where they both made Oliver Hardy deadpan faces at the camera.
I am a Gavin and Stacey fan and I think he's alright in that, I think Stewart Lee summed it up though when he said that the acts at this year's secret policeman's ball were a cavalcade of 'actors pretending to be comedians'. Mat Horne is an actor not a comedian, and it's going to be hard for him and Corden to pull off the sketch show.
On the other hand, Hugh Laurie seemed like a man who had no reason to ever go into comedy, but was actually quite good.
Having watched 10 minutes of the first show on iplayer I take back anything I said though and will be avoiding it in the future
It's no surprise no one watched it. I did though, and it was the funniest thing I'd seen for ages. BBC are under pressure to justify their license fee funding so they refuse to take risks, anything that might be considered 'cult' comedy doesn't get a look in any more. Shame, Meebox could have been brilliant, and if BBC had supported it it probably would have got a massive audience.
Of course Horne & Corden was going to happen, they're trying to cash in before the bubble bursts.
How Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle, which is in a higher profile slot with less publicity and will by necessity be less approachable in scope, does will be interesting.
I'm looking forward to that. Maybe my point above was a load of bollocks then, I just wanted more Meebox :(
Are wonderful. Best live comedy act I've seen in years...
It was excellent, but Matt Horne absolutely stunk the stage up
that I had applied for a job I REALLY wanted but James Corden also applied and they ended up giving it to him. I was furious, because he's everywhere at the moment and he really didn't need that job whereas I really did.
I woke up hating him more than ever before. I can see why people might have liked Gavin and Stacey (Ruth Jones at least is quite brilliant) but I find Horne and Corden thoroughly dislikable. It seems that the only joke for their new sketch show is that James Corden is fat.
for a couple of decades, then they can just sort of retire = plus they probably do alot more stuff behind the secene, production ect, they don't even want to do Adam & Joe TV show anymore
is one of the writers on the new Spielberg/Peter Jackon films of Tintin.
