Marcofella eat your heart out!
He said: "She let out a satisfaction sound, like if you have a cup of tea when you haven't had one for a few days.
"A 'mmmm' sound."
there's a woodcut in de Worde’s edition of Hawe’s 'Passetyme of Pleasure'(1509) which shows a man with his feet in the stocks while a woman performs on his tongue with a hand-drill.
Must be some kinda medieval musical instrument. What sound would it make? I'd wager it's quite similar to the bloodcurdling scream a tortured man, say, would make.
like a lot of the time in medieval art, animals are depicted as instruments. On one of the misericords in Beverley Minsters there's an ape playing a dog like it's bagpipes. There's another illustration of a man trying to 'play' a dog by holding its hind legs and biting its tail. Then there's loads of pics of people playing pigs as bagpipes.
Oh the Middle Ages, amazing times!
