Congratulations; University of Glasgow has asked us to tell you that it is offering you a place for Archaeology, V400; starting in September 2009 at point of entry 1.
The conditions of the offer are:
This offer is subject to you obtaining
GCE A level
Grades ABB
This is a changed course code offer as you do not have
any Science based subjects for the Faculty of Science
- we have offered you Archaeology within the Faculty of Arts
Queen Margaret halls are really nice and in quite a nice part near the uni, most expensive though.
Murano Street Student Village is the main place though and fine, like 1200 students live here, including me.
Stay away from the catered halls though, they're fucking miles from the university and horrible.
i wrote off catered halls at the start so i suppose it's between Murano and QM
is it safe to wait until early april to apply?
i'll probably just have a look at them on applicants day, although i'm not really sure what difference it will make.
it's not exactly a life of luxury (our hot water has broken about four times now) but it's massive so a large proportion of people you meet in first year will probably be living here, and it's exceedingly convenient to live within a three-minute walk of almost everyone you know
DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN?
Been here two and a half years or so. Never had a dull moment, the city and the uni is amazing. Incidentely, i never had any idea how many people on DiS were up here!?
Sure, there's a hell of a lot of numpties, especially the GUU types, but there's also lots of nice, friendly folk. Just like any other uni in that respect really.
In fact I've just walked back to my flat from the library and stopped at the end of Kelvin Way (whilst keeping one eye out for bum rapists) just to look up at how lovely the uni looks at night when it's all lit up.
Besides from being very pretty and nice, it's also just a really good university, with some interesting folk and all-round loveliness.
when separated form royal college is an ugly assed building. its too 60/70sish. it just jammed onto the side of the only pretty buiding in strathclde. also the ceilings are to high and it's awful when you have to run up the stairs.
also the whole floor level thing when in royal college /james weir/ thomas ghrame is too confusing. like 4 on roayl college= ground on james weir, mez on james weir= ground on thomas grahme.
Tis an amazing building!
yeah man the Boyd Orr is a wonder of modern architecture
^^^^touche.
Its like Hogwarts!
£1.50 ales!
Wank Wank Wank!
Team Penetration!
Dental Dildos!
Board Whored!
Vomiting Dummies!
Arlington Arsewholes!
HORRIFIC TRUFAX
I knew a band (recently too) who called themselves Team Penetration
slighty rapey crazy town numetal?
Would be more apt!
But nah, dancy indie electro dross
people at glasgow drink ales?!
i thoughts that's what all the english folk at edinburgh did!
it is
shut up, yes_.
anatony museum is spectacular
Beautiful part of the city
and beautiful students
i really fucking love the university of glasgow too
are you going to the applicants day?
i need to apply for accommodation soon but i don't really know what they're like
can someone help?
thanks
Probably not
It's a very long way to go just for a day.
What course have you applied for?
psychology in both the arts and sciences faculties
but i think i may abuse that flexible subject scheme and end up doing something completely different
how about you?
I applied to to archaeology BSc
But because i don't have any science experience they've offered me a place on the MA. which was jolly nice of them.
Ey?
Talk me through that.........
this

Okay, so BA then rather than MA?
That's what I couldn't understand!
Scottish Universities do MAs instead of BAs
Jesus Christ...
They'll be getting their own parliament next!
I do a BA
i think it's only Glasgow Uni that do it.
denied
I do an MA - I'm at Edinburgerz
ah
fine - it's only 'proper' unis that do it :'(
It's an MA rather than a BSc, which is what i applied for
I didn't apply for the MA because i didn't think i was good enough.
accomodation's good

yeah
i had a conditional offer and so didn't get my accomodation confirmed until august when exam results came out.. got my first choice of halls fine.
i'd go for murano street
it's not exactly a life of luxury (our hot water has broken about four times now) but it's massive so a large proportion of people you meet in first year will probably be living here, and it's exceedingly convenient to live within a three-minute walk of almost everyone you know

it does look like a fair distance away from the uni though
thanks
20 minutes walk
and maryhill road is amazing in itself. it has tesco and lots of cool old man pubs.
lol
they have a fire in the GUU
fucking wankers
i would go there if i didn't already live there
I sort of wish I didn't come from Glasgow
so I could move here for university. Definitely move to Glasgow if you get the chance.
i was thinking about going nuts and applying to glasgow for my masters
even though i've never been and don't know a soul there....that's too nuts right?...
...................
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shallow_Grave
i've got a briefcase but it's only loaded with bawdy end of the pier postcards
do it
yeah, do it.
me and my gf moved here without knowing anyone or having a job here.
The fact we were living in Brum might explain the move.
DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN? DID YOU GET IN?
k, you did.
yay
I spent one of the best days of my life there
I didn't have the minimum grades though to get in :(
i have concluded that
scottish people are just cooler
fact
A gruff as hell Glaswegian door woman once concisely explained
the difference in attitude between Scots/Weegies and the rest of us...
They don't want to be impressed, they just want to be entertained.
Does that make sense?
i have a romantic vision of Glasgow at the moment
through reading Lanark, i've never been but i'm tempted to go live there now. I'm sure it will soon pass.
Pretty much exactly the same as Lanark.
When I first went there I was all like:
"omgz it's just like Lanark!!11!"
but now I've calmed down and just think it's beautiful in and of itself.
Glasgow Uni is mint.
Been here two and a half years or so. Never had a dull moment, the city and the uni is amazing. Incidentely, i never had any idea how many people on DiS were up here!?
i rip the piss out of the place/its people nigh on constantly
but it is actually a real nice university, and if i was interested in em... 'academic' courses i would have tried hard at school AND WENT THERE.
I can fairly confidently say that isn't true.
Sure, there's a hell of a lot of numpties, especially the GUU types, but there's also lots of nice, friendly folk. Just like any other uni in that respect really.
nah
i agree, most glasgow students are twats.
HIYA!
:(
Glasgow Uni is great.

Glasgow as a city is amazing
and on an average week has like over 100 gigs per week.
however as a student at strathclyde i feel the need to dilike glasgow uni and its prettiness (we have some god awful buildings)
it's somewhat ironic that the architecture building
is the most ill thought out, ugly-ass building in Strathclyde University, eh?
livvy tower
is just as bad.
james weir

i do love strathclyde though
I love the University of Sheffield
.
i am ambivilent towards the university of edinburgh
