james dean or barry bulsara?
two or three is the maximum that I really enjoy.
yeah in a large group (of say about 8 or 9) i would normally spend most of the night talking to just 2 or 3 of that group. it's spreading yourself too thin otherwise. plus it's normally a nightmare finding somewhere to sit in a bar/club/bar if there are loads of you.
i've been alone to gigs a number of times. though never to a club, at the very least i will know the people who run the night or who are djing.
I dont hugely enjoy going out in big groups
going to the cinema alone and then edgeware road for a smoke..then down to to Piccadilly circus to hmv late at night...
I enjoyed that
as it's a solitary experience anyway. I don't know about a pub or a club. Gig would be fine I imagine, I've gone off by myself for most of the day at festivals whilst friends were unconscious in the campsite.
But I used to do it on Fri/Sat nights.
Gigs I go alone 90% of the time.
Edgeware road used to be cool..it was packed and it was nice watching people while pulling on a hubbly bubbly
but tended to go to places where I was familiar with the crowd. I was usually so sloshed I quickly befriended a crowd of people anyways.
I don't think I'd do that in Dublin tho only foreign cities, probably worried some people I knew would spot me heading somewhere and call me Billy No Mates or some such.
I wouldn't have the first clue how to do it without looking odd though.
Start bumming smokes and lights, smile and pretend you're Paul Newman.
