Forward-thinking or unthinkable break from tradition?
that's all I know about it.
and, given such roles exist as the Chief Bridesmaid, I don't think that's n anyway discriminatory.
But clearly if the groom's best friend is female it's reasonable to ask them to do it. I don't see it as "progressive" though - just a choice someone's made.
It's maid of honour, not chief bridesmaid. I've never really been involved in the female side of a wedding.
it's related to bride shiz. the best man is to the groom as the maid of honour is to the bride. so i spose if 'best man' was a woman errr i dunno. she'd still be bestman? or bestwoman. but 'maid of honour' wouldn't be correct. i don't think.
I've realised that I am probably gonna get asked to be a best man in the next year or two.
should probably only be one girl getting attention on a wedding day and that should be the bride. my gf would probably be ok with it, but i think it would be a kinder thing not to...
I don't understand.
I believe the French don't even have the concept of 'Best Man' at weddings.
The French don't have a lot of things.
Especially as its looking like one of my friends is going to be my only shot at being a best man, and now he tells me that when he oneday gets married he's going to have a best (wo)man!
I'm going to start a buisness, 'Best Man for hire'. Anyone need a best man? I might never get to be one else....
- organise a stag do, meaning trying to become friendly with a bunch of guys you probably never met.
- make a speech that's good enough to get laughs but not too good to show up the groom.
- have speech slashed to ribbons by the future Mrs. Mate because it mentions various previous ladies who are not to be mentioned.
- have to sit at a special table with only the bride, groom and their parents such that you don't get to share the meal with your girlfriend/wife/etc.
Nah, shit job. I'm having one when I get married, that's for sure.
