Please stop now, that's more than enough.
Even that picture of Homer they've used there makes me angry.
I like your style.
where there are more shitty episodes of the simpsons than classics. How utterly, utterly depressing.
Note to Groening: this dead horse you've been flogging for the past decade? It is dust now. For the love of comedy please, please stop now.
The Simpsons at its peak is arguably the funniest programme ever but has been getting steadily worse for years. And this saddens me greatly.
Nothing to see here. Pretend what's happening now is just a version of Family Guy, go rewatch the classic episodes or King of the Hill instead.
it would probably be considered one of the best sitcoms of the past 20 years.
it's fantastic but it's not quite wacky enough for the cartoon crowd and it's a cartoon so the frasier fans aren't going to give it enough time.
Even the weaker Simpsons episodes are funnier than the majority of other comedy shows. I mean, Jesus, stop weeping in nostalgia and be grateful! Tsk.
some of the new episodes are still very very good. Nowhere near as consistent, still better than you ungrateful bastards.
and I spent the mid to late 90s completely in love with them.
but they're still mostly better than some of the lazy dross shows like Family Guy manage to get away with
I've never really watched it that often
New (well, the last 10 years) Simpsons > most other things on TV.
Admittedly, this is more a reflection of most TV
It was something that was omnipresent and fairly irritating. I'll watch an episode if I stumble upon it by accident and there's nothing else to do, but I doubt I could name more than about five characters, family not included.
Contains both the last truly great episode (the sanitation commissioner one) and the first serious candidate for a shark-jumping moment ("the children were rescued by... oh, let's say.. Moe").
Since then it's gone downhill sharply but, like others have said, if you can forget the death of the characters and solid storylines, then some of it was still pretty funny. I even think it displays occasional flashes of the old glory up until about Season 15.
But recently I don't think it's even made me laugh. The last couple of seasons especially seem to have been a systematic campaign of legacy-shitting. The 90s episode with Homer in the grunge band finally killed whatever affection I had left for the new stuff.
haha, i was just about to post pretty much this. this thread has made me realise that the last new episode i saw was the one where homer thinks he's a wifebeater, and that was over a season ago.
a shame as well, as i really enjoyed the movie and i was hoping for an upturn but no, same old WACKY ADVENTURES rubbish.
I'm so glad I haven't seen that
I might just have to go and find it to see how bad
hmmm. i love the simpsons. shut up, haters.
I'm plumping for Last Exit To Springfield.
or at least the only thing I've ever seen that manages to mangle labour unions, Hubert Selby Jr, Dr Seuss, The Godfather, The Beatles and Tim Burton's Batman into a great piece of comedy has to win SOMETHING.
The Last Temptation of Homer
You Only Move Twice
Deep Space Homer
than You Only Mode Twice
Featuring the ONLY, and I mean only, one off male character who completely overshadowed Homer
"Haha! Noone ever says Italy"
