Nobody deserves to lose a child. It might seem an obvious thing to say, but I still won't be surprised if there are 200 cuntish replies to this by lunchtime.

and to Charlemagne and ladyoftheflowers, SOME people are stupid, they will vote for him for this reason, be it rightly or wrongly, just the same as people will vote or not vote for someone because they "don't like the look" of him / her. People really are stupid..
so it's harder to keep things like this private - not saying it's right, but that's the nature of life. As soon as you bring attention into an area of your life, it's difficult to get rid of it when you don't want it there any more. Hopefully they're left to it until he comes back to work.
A teacher couple at my school had a child with cerebral palsy and they gave us all a talk about it. But yeah, shit news.
Six years is an awfully long time to get used to having someone around only to lose them :(
It must be awful to have something like this when you're so in the public eye, and then everything you do afterwards will be scrutinised, especially in such a cynical field as politics.
Although I doubt they read DiS, especially when their son's just died, but condolences to the whole family. Hopefully they'll hold up ok.
