somoene must have gone? No?
The Times gave it 4 stars and a positive review, and thus far that is all I've seen.
"It's the Magnolia of superhero films. Sort of"
can't see it on the website, that was the first place I looked.
subscription order (my 2nd best christmas present)
well if Total Film, The Times and Empire all give it 4/5, then it can't be bad can it?
Cringingly porny sex scene cut to Hallelulah though? Yuck...
for the obvious, and for the tears.
But have to wait until the 14th...
That would suggest that the whole thing will be MEGA-sized unlike just the half hour or so of Batman... which could be worth the compromise - it's not like I don't know the plot.
in IMAX size is why your going anyway, admit it :)
but maybe I should leave the girlfriend behind.
Who could resist?
That cna get to fuck
ner ner ner ner ner
so I'll go and see it at a normal cinema, 12 times in a row on the 6th
We're goign at half 11, so I'm worried I'll get drunk and fall asleep
It's an 18! SWEET
"In one such example, a man is stabbed through the arm, with it forcefully twisted and broken as the knife is shown penetrating his arm and emerging from the other side."
Looks like nothing at all has been cut then. A-fucking-1.
Brave move by the studios to allow it really. Let's hope it makes enough dough to justify it and thus allow for more of this sort of thing.
(possibly their only except Harry Potter) but because of silly little things like the copyrighht of the Smiley they haveny promoted it as much as they would normally.
Though the upside is that you wont be able to get a Watchmen lunchbox.
but he's more like God.
But they're all retired. Anyway, this one masked adventurer gets thrown out of his window in the opening scene. This right wing psycho in a mask thinks someone's picking them off and investigates. Against the backdrop of a world teetering on the edge of nuclear armageddeon as the USSR invades Afghanistan.
But it's a lot more complex than that
Not a good one. Thus the film's epic running time. But Rob's description is good enough. Needs more pirates though.
If there are still seats I could buy you an IMAX ticket and you could give me the dosh?
That's a very nice and tempting offer. I promised the woman and housemate I'd go see it with them though. I'll let you know.
- what if there had been costumed vigilantes since the 1940s and what would that have done to the political arena.
- what are these people who need to break the law in order to keep it actually like and why are they so disfunctional in that respect
AND the biggie
- if a human was given superhuman powers surely that would change their views on human life rather than cement them?
but rob's is the plot, the above is the themes
and 'Tale of the Black Freighter' DVD...
will be the new Star Trek trailer.
Oh yes. I've died, been informed that I am a geek, and been diverted to geek heaven.
Watchmen probably the most faitful adaptation of a comic to the big screen. Ending changed very much for the better. Great sets, costumes, special effects - Rorshach especially good.
Downside - too long, too reverential, lacks pace and feels a little dull at times. In short - I love it and at same time am unimpressed !
Opening montage sequence just brilliant though. Had me grinning from ear to ear.
I really cant trust this knob's opinion - he thinks Spiderman 3 is the greatest comic book movie ever made forchrisakes!
he's saying he loves it in parts but is still a little unconvinced its as good as he'd hoped so struggles to reconcile the two feelings. Give him a break, there is a word limit for twitter and he's had half a day to review it.
so why should I give the big, fat, overpaid sexist ding-dong a break?
i expect to agree with johnathon ross.
and I expect to disagree with him! *pokes tongue out*
You could read their reviews and then decide to see/read/listen to what they recommend.
and he's informed me that they will be showing the same version as every other cinema
next thursday. Don't really know what to expect, just hope the Gallows (as rumour has it) aren't the band performing :/
It's the best cinematic version of watchmen you could reasonably hope for. (until the directors cut hits) As someone who read the comic book , the one problem with it is almost that it's too faithful, whereas the dark knight adds levels to the batman mythos, this is the comic book incarnate. And there's nothing wrong with that, it just won't really surprise you much.
I think my greatest complaint is that it's not the directors cut already.
Now someone go make a 15 hour miniseries out of the invisibles already.
