This thing is REALLY pissing me off.
It's full of that sort of stuff.
The best way to deal with boils is to prevent them occurring. Avoid getting tired and run down and make sure you eat a healthy, balanced diet. Drink plenty of water (around two litres per day), don't drink too much alcohol and take some exercise.
If you have a long-term condition that affects your immune system, then it's important to make even more effort to keep healthy.
If you do get a boil, then you should:
Keep the area around it clean, preferably using an antiseptic soap.
Soak a clean cloth in warm salty water (mix a couple of spoonfuls of salt in a bowl of water) and press it against boil, gently squeezing at the same time.
Do not 'lance' (pierce) the boil and squeeze out the pus as this can spread the germs more widely and cause more boils.
If the boil does not start to heal within a few days, then make an appointment to see your GP.
If you have a very large boil or carbuncle, you may need to see your GP for treatment. They may use a needle and syringe to drain the pus out. Sometimes a small cut in the skin is needed to let out the pus.
In some cases a course of antibiotics is prescribed to help clear infection from the skin.
Did you ever get to the pub on Friday?
I've spent most of this weekend with an alcoholic drink or cigarette in my hand. I'm expecting legions of boils and carbuncles to march upon my poor broken body.
"Brace yourself, because lancing a boil hurts."
rinse it out in it, fill it up and empty etc.
Place the bottle on the boil. The pressure will basically suck it out. WORD.
I've never tried it though.
i mean the open end! so like, the bottle top encompasses the boil. Not the whole bottle on the back of your neck, like.
or does it just suck it through the skin somehow with the magical power of the vacuum?
I was told this many years ago. It is probably similar in effect to what RaquelSmokes says
then she'll probably say "ooh, it squirts out like jizz!"
Otherwise I can see myself as a newspaper headline and potential DiSism. MAN CUTS OFF OWN HEAD.
with a chainsaw!
You'll be fine.
Follow their advice involving hot salty water or something.
Oh dear, that just sounds wrong...
i'm impatient like that.
where is your boil?
Ahh today will be a good day!
So I see! I had one on the middle of my nose once, I left it alone until one day I touched it and it burst and it was fine. Few months later I got antoher one in exactly the same place which I did the same thing to. Stress related I think!
Anyone got a spare frog?
and the burying? This seems like an important distinction.
He has a boil on his neck in that
How does he get rid of it? Sword? Frog? Lance?
because he's not Thatcherite enough to succeed in the brash, evil 80s.
it's BOILING in here
Ann BOILyn for one.
i didn't spot their result
is giving me an emboilism.
I'll squeeze it for you!
I'll pick up some surgical gloves as well...
TRY SHOWERING EVERY NOW AND THEN, YOU FILTHY NORTHERNER
If my skin wasn't so fresh and so clean clean, the boil mites wouldn't have picked it as their new home.
That's how these things work, right?
You should accumulate loads, become the local freak. There's this guy who lived in my town when I was younger who was TOTALLY COVERED in boils. It was the most disgusting thing ever, all popping out from under his beard and shit. People used to ponder whether he had them on his bum and willy, but these were never founded. I think he died - boils probably all burst at the same time, killing him in a torrent of pus and blood.
I remember seeing a video of one guy bursting one and it was like primula cheese oozing out. *heave*
