I saw someone in the street... (social-networking-centric)
As I was saying before I interrupted myself, I saw someone in the street the other day that I am friends with (at his request) on that favourite hot-topic, Facebook. He was sat on a bench with a child, I know him to be a father and so I assume it was one of his. It doesn't matter.
As I approached, he clocked me. At which point he started staring at his shoes, fiddled with the water bottle he was holding and just made darned sure to ignore me. Though I haven't seen him in a while, there was a point just a couple of years back where we would bump in to each other fairly frequently and stop and chat. Now, although he deems me a close enough friend to bump up his numbers on Facebook, we're not friends enough that he will acknowledge me in the street.
People, I ask you - who are your 'friends'? Are they the people that will accept your request across t'interweb, or are they people that would actually pass the time of day with you were they to see you in the flesh?
Think about it. Srsly
