do i go get it cut into something resembling a 'style' or try to persevere and move into generic boring indie/student mop territory

please be aware that the barbers i'd be going to has all his walls covered in mid-90s newcastle united memorabilia and last time i was in asked not how i would like it cut but what grade i'd like it cut.
