American Pie, no contest
Life of Brian.
and many more.
As is Borat.
and my immediate thought was anchorman or borat
but really. maybe i just didn't appreciate its genius at the age of 12
It's why I'm so manly and butch now
pot-bellied gollum-like zombies that explode in acid and damage you - tactics? Let them grab you and then shake them off (haven't tried this yet)or just blast them in the distance?
preferably with a ridiculously souped-up hand cannon. I have a real trigger finger RSI developing...
*distance. My reply kerploded
or In Bruges.
Some Like It Hot.
Dumb and Dumber (and not the stupid cut version that ITV always show).
And the first hour of South Park is probably the most I have ever laughed at a film – the rest was great, but not quite on the same level.
I like my comedy sophistimacated.
i laughed way more than is healthy at The Naked Gun AND Home Alone. still do, tbh
Watched home alone at christmas and laughed my ass off.
Also Life of Brian
Quest for the Holy Grail
The Big Lebowski
Dumb and Dumber
And lots more that I cannot think of.
I laughed for about 3 days
The nominations are:
Titanic - For fhe guy falling off the end of the ship and hitting his head on the propeller
Airplane - When the nun starts singing the song and everyone smiles
Airplane 2 - "Macho Grande" and The Shat's door gag
Blazing Saddles - Mungo punches the horse
The Pink Panther - The entire last half hour
Spinal Tap - "...an Australian's nightmare"
Groundhog Day - "...worship a rat"
I wish I could see it again for the first time.
Also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYUK1BwaFOg - 1.27 = Gold
I saw it once and laughed a fair bit. Saw it twice and couldn't even raise a smile.
My personal favourites would really be anything by the Zucker Brothers from Airplane! up to Naked Gun 33 1/3 (yes, even that one is good).
Beyond that I'd have to think.
Big Lebowski for sure.
I was watching it last night and was still in hysterics
would take the first two lines of your post and level it at the Big Lebowski, apart from the laughing at it at all bit. Nothing to it whatsoever...
Hot Shots Part Deux
Superbad (until the last 10 or so)
Borat's first hour
A shot in the dark
I also really enjoyed 40 Year old virgin, which totally shocked me...
...I also enjoyed 40 year old virgin. I couldn't believe it was watchable. I hate "red topped" movies!
but I find TV programmes funnier
How the hell could I forget that?!
Airplane 2 - The Shat's door gag
Though it's kind of covered by my Zucker Brothers thing, isn't it?
Big Lebowski just cracks me up. That bit where Jeff Daniels first meets Mr. Lebowski about his rug. There's something amazing about it.
South Park movie
Withnail & I
all make me laugh heartily every time
Python films of course
and BASEketball is awesome
also Team America.
i wonder when their new movies are coming out? are they even doing those anymore? i remember there was one which was based kind of on godzilla or something...
Have you seen Orgazmo? That's one of theirs. It's about a mormon who becomes a porn star.
also: Cannibal The Musical is great too. good songs :D
and say withnail and i, but i honestly can't remember crying with laughter so much at any other film. Maybe Airplane! would be a contender
bridget jones diary
as well as most other marx bros films. Unbelievably good.
You never tire of seeing it.
One Night At McCool's
for an excited 12 year old at a cinema there is nothing funnier than this film. I almost died laughing the first time I saw it.
Age hasn't been kind...
I also really really loved Kingpin at the time
"ain't you the two kids that have been whackin' off in maaa tool shed?"
it actually gets funnier on each viewing and i've seen it about a million times already
or Dumb and Dumber
"No it's a cardigan, but thanks for noticing!"
..I can't think of anything else atm, but I have watched hot rod more than any other joke film. Still do laughs.
Any of The Naked Gun's.
Anchorman's always good, and almost anything with Steve Martin. It's not a particularly cool film (unless you're Dev Hynes), but Father of the Bride never fails to entertain me.
good to see it get so much love in the thread. Hilarious in its own beautiful way.
as when I saw Borat at the cinema.
so bad it becomes comedy genius
or Doctor Strangelove
oh and Kingpin
Idiocracy and Don't be a menace to self central whilst drinking your juice in the hood.
is very funny but I think Spinal Tap gets my vote. I might even watch it again tonight.
American Pie, on the other hand, is utter dog shit.
The Jackass films consistently crack me up.
Dun der dun dun *raises eyebow*
raise eyebrows dun der dun dun.
Dan Aykroyd rules in that movie.
Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Too Afraid to ask...
Just utterly fantastic all the way through, not a duff bit in it...
and most of you probably wont have seen it...
here actually, you uneducated shmucks... :)
I mean come on.. american pie? anchorman? etc etc...
But his films tend to make me smile rather than have me on the floor laughing. They're still brilliant though.
i find woody allen amusing, and occasionally hilarious but they don't having me aching and crying with uncontrollable laughter
and Play It Again Sam, Sleeper, Bannanas, Annie Hall et al...
I thought i was gonna die the first time I saw the courtroom scene in Bannans... seriously...
the medieval bit was a bit weak compared to the other sketches, especially considering where it's placed in the movie.
Bananas is my favourite Woody film.
I've got most of the early ones. People always seem to rate Sleeper highest, but I'd say L&D and Bananas are probably the funniest.
I haven't seen Everything You Wanted to Know... for ages. I think maybe I'll watch it over the weekend.
Have you seen Broadway Danny Rose? That's another of my favourites.
That's probably my favourite of his early 'silly' films.
Other contenders though:
In the Loop
Does "trapped in the closet" count as a second funniest?
Not nearly enough jokes in it
My sides were hurting after that movie...
I am a massive spaced fan though. Even more so of the zombie episode!
...everyone else is a gimp :)
too much AC-TING
i thought it was just me that thought it was so funny but years after seeing it i read Bob Monkhouse say his stomach 'hurt for 2 days' after he first watched it.
the only film i've been embarassed watching in a room of other people cause i was laughing so hard i must have seemed insane.
but can't believe Caddyshack hasn't been mentioned!
So Let's DANCE!
I guess so. Of the latter, then:
Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid
The Beavis & Butthead and South Park movies (Team America too; the bit with the kittens near paralysed me)
Top Secret! ("is this the potato farm? oui, I am albert potato")
The Python films
Freddy Got Fingered (worst best film ever)
So I Married an Axe-Murderer
Boring list. Sorry.
as a kid. Watching it again as an adult was not as good.
Why is everybody saying Spinal Tap?! Its just not that funny, A Mighty Wind and Best in Show are miles better.
you mental pal? whats not to like in it?
Best in Show is a beast though... :)
Beavis and Butthead SLAYS me
"You may be wondering, how did this wood get so hard?"
i cant decide between the 3.superbad is definitely the best teen movie of any kind.its brilliant
Also this scene from You, The Living had me in tears..
PEE WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE.
anyone seen this? directed by Tim Burton
but it's got to be this:
'it started as a joke'
Ace Ventura 1 + 2
Dumb and Dumber
as well as
Waynes World 1 + 2
stupid male humour gets me everytime.
