I've been staying up reading The Prophet by Kahil Gibran. The Prophet was first published in 1923.
He divided the book into various chapters such as Life, Love, Fear, Unhappiness, Law, Marriage, Punishment, Freedom, Sorrow, Friendship, Time, Blissfulness, Beauty etc etc.
He died of liver cancer. But anyway. It's a really good book and was recommended to me by some 67 year old hippy. I thought it would be a load of old bollocks but it's really interesting.
You would know the secret of death.
But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?
The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light.
If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.
For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.
Anyway, I'm not a hippy. But its a good book.
What are you currently reading?
PS. There's an Oxfam bookshop in Victoria that is cheap and amazing if anyone's interested.
