...Also, I do this at least once a letter, don't I? I was noticing it a recent time around... I think I especially overuse it as a paragraph-starter. And here I'm still blabbing on about how letter-writing has improved my writing.
I like it when Americans do it innit. Because, y'know, you're, like, American? It's only unnecessary when Brits do it.
you said "unnecessarily American" rather than "unnecessary and American", which is poor grammar and mildly amusing. "Some things are American by necessity, some are not." Very mildly.
I didn't sleep last night, so I went to bed as soon as I got back from my tutorial, around 12:30, and I've been asleep ever since. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO? :'(
but if you've not got much to do on saturday then you may as well chill and enjoy the night. Then just try and sleep again later sat night.
I get really bored so I'm like "I might as well go to bed now".

Nah, I can't sleep before it. The shows with the lack-of-sleep-induced delirium are the best ones (y)

I am impressed that you know gumbo contains celery.
The holy trinity. I don't really like any of those things. Celery in particular though. My mum puts celery in everything - lasagne, fish pie... well, those are the only two things she really makes, but she puts celery in them both. I always pick it out. I like the flavours of Cajun/Creole cuisine in general though, so I feel quite conflicted about it all.

Yeah, c'mon Adam, don't tell me you could resist a brilliant sausage gumbo because it's got bits of minced celery in it. Let go of the bad memories and enjoy.
