ever been to byker? its grim.
her next door neighbour isnt.
she doesnt live in newcastle
but Grange Hill was filmed in Borehhamwood, which is gorgeous.
no, my question was have you ever been to Byker?
my mums from Walker.
or at least that's my experience of working there on weekends
byker must be worse than i remember
Really? I always found Byker to be alright. I wouldn’t go into any of the pubs there, but I’d rather find myself in Byker high street than Walker.
it’s not as grim as Benwell, where the Grove actually was.
my family refer to two areas of who's names i dispute:
4 Lane Ends
The BlueHouse Roundabout
^ are these places/landmarks made up by my auntie?
and places you can visit
Four Lane Ends is up by Longbenton and the Blue House Roundabout is on the old Great North Road, just south of Gosforth.
actually, i'm questioning "the coast road" now too.
If you head out of town with the moor on your left, and the allotments on your right, it’s at the junction with Grandstand Road just before you enter Gosforth. There’s a big house, painted blue, on the corner.
The Coast road heads out east from Jesmond to, er, the coast.
its on the coast road. the house isnt even blue! it just has blue bits on the roof and windows!
The Coast Road doesn’t have any roundabouts until it reaches North Shields. Are you sure you’re not thinking of the Corner House pub?
on the coast road, just when it gets to near whitely bay, there is a roundabout. there are houses all round the roundabout, one of which has a blue wood finish
I’ve had a quick look on google earth and can’t find anything.
I've made my feelings on the entire area very clear
Byker = The holeiest part of the hole
1. Sectarian banter
mainly due to the pj getting shot in the eye storyline, which then gave them a chance to have noddy trying to gay off with him but he didn't know about it because he was blind. who said kids tv doesn't deal with issues.
Too close to call
Kid goes into HMV
"Graffiti" is playing very loudly
He steals a copy of "A Certain Trigger" ostentasciously showing it to the camera
Decides stealing is bad
Goes back into HMV
"Going Missing" is playing very loudly
Put the Maximo Park CD back onto a wall of Maximo Park cds
Byker Grove finished two or three years ago. The last episode, and I promise I'm not making this up, saw the kids find out that they and their surroundings were all fictional.
that is mental. Was it like the Matrix or the Truman Show or something? Bizzaro World.
I can't find any more than this:
"The Grovers have discovered that all their lives are creations of 'The Writer' and are trying to influence his decision in how everything should end. Parts of the Grove are disappearing and they have to come up with a believable ending."
...and this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJVWxz1axyA
Buuuuurrned in the fiyah.
grange hill went through periods of brilliance and spells of awfulness.
There was a chubby girl on it with a lip ring and I recognised her by voice alone (!!!!) on Stephen Merchant's 6 Music show, she's the she-jay.
Also, these went to my school http://www.bbc.co.uk/insideout/northeast/series10/images/week1/gallery/byker_twins449.jpg
grange hill was posh and boring
