Anyone know any simple but tasty starter type dishes? I'm a pretty novice cook and I'm drawing a blank
Or a soup - pea and ham is delicious.
no cooking at all really, you just need good ingredients
so don't do that
Melon and parma ham.
Somthing king prawn and garlicy
It isn't 1971.
Unless you live in the north, I suppose.
Its amazing. taste sensation. etc...
sorry if i'm to old school for you, metro pants.
It should never, ever be put anywhere near a starter or ham.
Good cock suggestion though.
But you're wrong
I was waiting for re-enforcements of some sorts. Thank god you came.
Apparently you're the only one who didn't get the memo.
better to have parma ham with more parma ham.
with slices of mozarella on top. with fresh basil, olive oil and black pepper. easy.
with the mozarella balls and basil all torn up. Perfectly simple, tasty and fresh starter.
Prepare it before, heat it and bash.
I don't want food poisoning on my hands. I'm liking the soup suggestions and the salad suggestions. Also anything that can be constructed using prerolled pastry would be good...
About as easy as you can get.
you want on them. Sundried tomatoes, normal tomatoes, mushrooms, cheeses, herbs. Whatever you want. Stick in the oven, take out, eat.
Order something instead of starting to cook for your girlfriend.
Then train for months, after that you'll impress her...
I'd say Chili Con Carne. Easy as pie. Quick and very tasty, the proof is in the pudding.
you'll need -
2 balls mozzarella (one each)
juice of 1 lemon
pepper / salt
1. mix a little olive oil and some lemon juice, with a teensy pinch of salt and pepper, to taste (for a dressing)
2. toss some of the rocket and mint in the dressing
3. wrap some rocket and mint inside a slice of the prosciutto ( like a little rocket-mint roll)
4. tear the mozzarella into bits, arrange nicely on top of some rocket on the plate.
4. stick rocket-mint wrap beside
5. drizzle some of the dressing over the mozzarella.
6. sprinkle some pepper.
Otherwise known as 'Jamies Christmas Salad'
it's really light and fresh and tasty.
Not this recipe but not far off.
Very easy to make but a pain cleaning/de-bearding the mussels.
I'm going for merguez and tzatziki pizza for main and chocolate brownies, raspberries and ice cream for pud...I am going to be making this all from scratch minus the ice cream but I have made pizzas before and brownies look pretty easy/I have made them a long time ago
sometime plz Dave. <3
and going to let my girlfriend make the dessert.
I'm going to go for 45 minutes so that in an unfamiliar kitchen I will be able to get under the hour mark.
Start with, perhaps:
Avacado, cut in half, nut removed (1 for each of you);
Prawns in thousand island dressing served in the centre of the avocado;
Sprinkled with a bit of chili powder and paprika.
Then cook salmon, if she likes that.
A really nice, simple sauce for salmon:
One tablespoon of wholegrain mustard, two teaspoons of honey, one tablespoon of soy sauce.
Heat some olive oil up in a pan, about a teaspoon.
Put the salmon fillets in the oil, cook both sides about 2.5 mins each.
Pour over the sauce and mix with the juices and let it bubble for a bit, but not too much.
Add about 100ml veg stock and let it boil a bit longer.
Chop some spring onions and sprinkle on top, mix in with the sauce.
Serve with rice and a wedge of lemon.
Cover yourself in chocolate for desert.
