if it is fucking shite and you hate it and have no dependancies, then yeah
I did it and then didn't work for 4 glorious months, spent a month pottering around in caribbean watching cricket was brilliant. Obviously not everyone can do that/would want to do that but I highly recommend it
but that is an obvious problem
Or its seriously affecting your health, yeah. And I have.
Got me out of a job I had hated for 5 years and gave me time to decide what I really wanted to do. Three years later I'm really happy.
considering you had a paying job and sacked it off?
you are just getting back what you have paid thus far in National Insurance...that's one way of looking at it
cos it was ur choice.
You can still claim Housing / Council Tax Benefit.
Not everyone has those things admittedly. It made my decision somewhat easier. I had no need to go on the dole.
knowing you dont HAVE to do somthing is empowering work wise. If i had no savings i wouldnt do it thou.
I did it once to go live in CALI for a while (which became a holiday of 2 weeks for girl reasons)
Will probably be doing it for band tour and or travel again within the year.
I wouldnt do it right now without savings thou, its a tough climate for those not in major demand.
as someone said up there, you can't claim benefits for a wee while. 3 months? that looks right.
but they've just told me they'll most likely be making me redundant on monday cos the companies in the shit. fun huh?
so i'm not actually sure I will.......
RIGHT NOW! :(
I'm about to quit my £25,000 job in London to move to Glasgow. I'm reasonably sure of some freelance work that'll give me about £400 a month, but, you know, £400*12=£4,800, so I'm going to have to move fast to get some work or get used to eating 10p noodles. Got about £1,000 saved, but minus £500 to move my stuff, minus £500 for rent + deposit on flat = £0. Gonna be exciting times.
It's great. I was made redundant over Christmas in the job I hated with all my soul and I've recently been asked to come back. I still hate it and this thread has put bad thoughts in my head. However, as I'm still working very few hours I can still claim benefit I believe. Not much but it all helps. Hopefully I'll get sacked again. Fingers crossed!
It was a pretty decent paid job, but I just hated it. It felt brilliant doing it, but my dad went ballistic when I told him, and in the end I totally regretted doing it.
