the university had plans to make several lecturers redundant in the english and politics departments so that it could maintain it's profit margin while building a new building.

the lecturers unions weren't happy and decided to go on strike.

the students union sided with the management.

the students didn't.

then there was a load of emails sent from students in support of the lecturers and in opposition to the students union (because those guys are just in it for the popularly contest of student elections and to be smug at club nights).

when the lecturers strike and protest days came around there were students joining them on the picket line and at protest.

the university backed down.

one of my lecturers bought me a pint.
